The first rant from Japan? OH NOES!! :O

Jan 19, 2008 18:59

Yoh has a wedding party-dealie to go to tonight, so I am free to fly solo! ...Well, actually we spent pretty much the whole day together either de-molding our futon (GROSS) and putzing around Shizuoka city while Yoh had a job interview, so this is more of a break I guess? Haha, but I`m having fun with him, we`ve gone bowling, karaoking, fishing, shopping, and done other stuff like that while he looks for work and I wait to start (Monday! Eek!).

*WARNING: THE RANT BEGINS*
There is one major wet blanket on my Japan fun, which I SHOULDN`T complain about, but NEED to. Yoh`s mom is great since she and Yoh`s dad are letting us stay at their place for free, and she always means well, but she`s kind of driving me crazy. She is VERY motherly, and makes me feel like I`m in grade school. She buys me stuff I DO NOT NEED OR WANT food wise even when both Yoh and I tell her we are a.) going out for supper, b.) have bought our own groceries, or c.) Just don`t need anything. For example, everyday there`s new food that is aparently for me which I would never buy on my own, like this bizare cheese bun that was FILLED with a flavorless, runny substance that I assume was supposed to be cheese. But she KEEPS buying me food, like cake I don`t want, and extra hug bag of hot cocoa when there was not enough cupboard space for the still full bag I bought, the cheescake things in the fridge that look like uncomfortable bowl movements wrapped in plastic, and the huge array of other stuff she WON`T STOP BUYING ME. I complained to Yoh but he said it`s no use, she does that with him still, like cooking supper when he tells her WAY ahead of time that he`s going out and what not.

Aside from the food that goes to waste since I don`t have the courage to withstand another `cheese` bun incident, she is VERY `motherly.` I can`t do laundry without her coming outside and making sure I have enough hangers or room to hang stuff, she`ll tell me how to help Yoh with supper, and she made clear that she thinks I am otherwise totally inept at existing in Japan. When I had my interview last week, she was utterly appalled that I did not wake Yoh up at 8am to drive me to the train station (a peaceful 25 minute walk), buy me my ticket (EASY), ride the train with me (I get off at the stop where the signs read `Shizuoka` and train announcer says `Shizuoka, Shizuoka desu,` right? *head smacks*), lead me by the hand to the south exit (Most of the signs at the station have English written under the Japanese even if I was completely retarded) and make sure my interviewer found me alright (like it`s really hard to find one of the only foreingers around). C`mon. My Japanese may have gotten rusty having dropped the class last semester, but it`s not like I`m completely lost here.

I feel bad complaining since I KNOW she means well, but it`s really wearing down my nerves. Since I start work Monday and have to be out of the house before 8am, I`ve been waking up progressively earlier each morning. However, since she`s awake, I`ve started listening by the door to hear if she`s out of the kitchen and what not so I can get my breakfast quick then retreat back to Yoh`s room and eat. I even friggen did my makeup in the near dark this morning since Yoh was sleeping, but I didn`t want to talk to his mom on my way to the washroom so soon after waking up. UGH.

I just want to move out and I know my bad feelings toward her will go away, but sadly that has to wait until at least the end of March, the EARLIEST the end of February (oh please oh please). UGH. I cannot wait to have my own space where I don`t have someone watching/anticipating my every move like I`m 12.
*END RANT*
Whew, that felt nice. I already ranted to Yoh, and he actually ranted with me saying how much the same things bugged him, but I just had to rant more to get it out of my system.

Anyway, not much else to update with. I`m pretty tired given all the walking Yoh and I did today, so I`m probably going to head back to Yoh`s place (and hide from his mom in his bedroom D:), shower, watch Buffy on my mac and be asleep around 10. Haha, I know how to party.
