You see, I hate to think that I am coming across as a comment whore, which I know I am. I guess that is partially true. But part of me thinks that when I write on this LJ that I should be entertaining and interesting, because those are the kinds of posts that most people seem to enjoy.
Sure, this is a good place to put down concerns and life events you have going on, but in seeing it as a social sight in some form, I think I should give people a reason to read what I have to say.
To me, it seems like I am not as interesting as I once was, which does make me feel a little bummed.
In my case, I am going through some significant life changes for the better, and I want my struggles to serve as an inspiration to those who struggle as I do. When I bear my deepest soul, I want someone, ANYONE to drop me a line and say "Hey dude, hang in there". But when I cut my hair or shave my beard or fart or pick my nose, I get FIFTY comments! WTF?
Although the concept of "to have a friend you must first be a friend" also applies to LJ comments. Comment on everyone else's journal like your life depends on it, no matter how insignificant or painful or time-consuming it might be. I suppose I could do more of that, myself.
Then again, I could be full of shit because it's way past my bedtime and this is when my brain turns to mush.
Well, I don't think they're boring. I'm not much of a Kate Nash fan, and I didn't have any comments on taking a day off, so I guess I just don't comment that much.
Hey, I post stuff that is interesting to me. But I also hate the feeling that I'm just talking to myself. I wish I could balance the two and not sound like a whiny hoser.
I get the same feeling. On the one hand, it's my LJ. On the other, I feel an obligation to entertain or at least engage others. With some friendships, LJ is the primary way we stay in touch and it feels like I'm a bad friend (or at least a boring one) when they don't seem to care.
Ironically, I am reluctant to post a trivial reply to an LJ I find interesting. If I don't have anything substantial to add, I'll rarely just reply 'cool' or something.
There should be ground rules about worthy replies and so on.
I guess I'm a bit different in replying to other people's LJs. While I would like to provide some sort of feedback related to what they were talking about, I'm not too concerned with it being overly substantial
