Update!

Two days ago was my picnic!

Ann came (with fruit salad and cupcakes - which my brother wants to know the recipe), Marla and her fiancé Maury (it’s been forever since I’ve seen her), Melissa (surprise! She wasn’t sure if she could come, but she did!), Kate M (wild style), Katie F and Brian (who came via Katie M, and didn’t have bathing suits so they swam in regular people clothes), and Karen (and her france-ian dress with a million buttons).
Among the other guests were my brother Ryan (where people didn’t know we were related, which was refreshing after hearing that we look like twins are entire life), Matt (my boyfriend - who enjoyed everyone immensely!), and Pfeif and Elizabeth (who came later when everyone was leaving).
Hurray for everyone who came! I hope everyone had a blast - cause I sure did!

As for recent news, my pops is getting surgery on his bum knee. He tore a tendon in it years ago and chose not to get surgery to save money during some hard times, but never went back because it felt fine. Now that he has quit smoking and eating healthier, he decided to start running. Well, his knee started acting up again and, alas, he has a fractured knee! His (stupid) doctor didn’t prescribe him any pain medication despite his BROKEN bone, and just told him to keep off it - how is he suppose to do that when he commutes to New York for work?! But, he’s finally getting the surgery he always needed on Tuesday, so he’ll be out of work for about a week.

The following is mushy stuffs - be warned!

Today is Matt and my one month anniversary! Yay! It’s weird because I’ve literally seen him every single day since June 2nd. I’m kind of getting really scared for when school starts back up. He’s going back to Virginia to get his masters (elementary ed) and I’m going back to school. Yeah, I’ll be visiting him, but it’s four hours away. He’s going to visit too, but he’s going to be student teaching on top of going to classes of his own, so he’s expecting the worst year. We talked about things before.
Even though we are still classified as being in our “honeymoon” stage, I don’t like to think we’re in over our heads. The Gay community is not one to be super proud of. It’s amazing how hard it is to find…normal people. It’s sad to say (and probably hard to understand for those of you who aren’t gay…but I’ll be happy to explain things to you clearer if you’d like) that a lot of them are, literally, losers. Matt is definitely not. He’s actually accomplished things in life. He’s a teacher almost ready to join the work force with an undergrad and a masters. He’s also been president of Kiwanis at his school (and in highschool) for, like, ever. Around him, I feel like under accomplished. Granted, he is older than me, but still, that’s something that I’ve never felt before with a guy. I love the way he’s so responsible and mature (but knows when not to be). And the way that he cares for me.
I’ve always tried to stay away from the dating pool. I always figured that, I don’t know, I would be “sent” someone, and it’ll all just happen. Like fate. Well, this time, he’s been in front of my face since, like, I was 5. I don’t know why it took so long to figure that out.
