Hello! I lurk mostly but had to comment on a few things.
Yeasayer are indeed awesome. I saw them a while back (at Bottom of the Hill, actually) and thought they were great. There's only so much of the Fillmore crowd I can take though, so I usually avoid it.
In defense of Bottom of the Hill, since that's my favorite venue in the city & I'm there all the time: the dude who was wandering up & down the line for under 21's is usually only there when they expect a big crowd. The show wasn't sold out so they knew there would be people lining up. It's just, like you said, it takes a little while to get in there sometimes.
I'm right there with you on the Young Veins and how they seemed misplaced on the bill. I liked the songs okay (Jon's more than Ryan's, which surprised me), but they weren't anything special. The lyrics are definitely over-simplified. It's like they swung too far in the other direction and got rid of all the weirdness at the expense of anything interesting. And holy crap, Ryan singing with that whole half-closed eyes rolled back thing got really creepy. I couldn't even watch him after the first song. I'd look away as soon as he opened his mouth.
Anyway, now that my comment is nearly as long as your post... I saw the dudebro writing on the wall with Vampire Weekend when the last time they played here was at the Mezzanine. It's a dead giveaway.
