I'm forgoing my usual grumpiness about Valentine's Day for a very important reason: The
Courage Campaign is lobbying for the California State Supreme Court to overturn Prop. 8.
This past spring, during the brief window when marriage was legal in the state of California, I saw the faces of men and women who'd finally been allowed to marry, sometimes after decades of commitment to one another. This year's Pride was especially poignant, with couples wearing tee-shirts that proclaimed "Together 25 Years -- Finally Married" and other homemade slogans, showing off rings and whooping and hollering when Gavin Newsom -- who'd originally allowed couples to marry in San Francisco's City Hall -- went by. It was one of the happiest collective moments I've ever been a part of, and my heart broke on election night when I heard that Prop. 8 had passed.
Now, Ken Starr (Yes, that Ken Starr, of the infamous Lewniskygate) has filed a brief to forcibly dissolve all of the gay marriages performed in California while it was legal. In case you haven't seen this all over your Flist yet, you should check out the Courage Campaign's response here:

miss_begonia's new fic
Come Back to the Place You Are, which is amazing wedding fic set in her
Yogaverse. Not only that, but it comes complete with two incredible
soundtracks which have kept me bopping around happily all week.
Go! Read! Comment! You'll be glad you did. How could you not love a fic in which is the summary is as follows:
“I love you,” Brendon says, fluttering his eyelashes. “Please come keep me warm, my angel.”
“I will kick you in the nuts.”
Happy VD!
