. . . thinly disguised.
Heh. So I ended my night with my sister-in-law's psychiatric nurse calling to tell me that my mother was incoherent on the phone and should they send an ambulance to the house. No, seriously. No. Seriously.
Anyway, she was fine. She had a low-blood-sugar reaction again, and I was able to wake my dad up and get him to take care of it, but really. Yesterday was the best day ever.
We shall speak of it no more.
Instead, I am here today to amaze and delight you with the wonders of the season. Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration. But I have music and recs and that's got to be worth something, right? And then I am going to answer comments before I post tonight's Advent story. It will be like a little miracle all on its own.
secrethappiness was asking for songs about crushes. And since it's the season when if you are unattached to someone at the hip, you often want to shoot yourself in the head, I thought: what better time than to celebrate silly, giddy, unrequited love?

And in other exciting news, look
who shaved! And is looking adorable, even with his little beer gut. Also, it appears that Brendon believes that he can grown facial hair. Heh.
Brendon, I think we can all agree that you are
much prettier without
fuzz. (I know you can't see his face in the second picture but whatever. It's hot.)
Also, in case you -- like me -- are woefully behind on your Flist, the fantabulous
mel39 is running
A 100-Word Advent Challenge. I have about nine million drabbles to comment on, but there are loads and loads of fantabulous stories up already, many of which read like lovely holiday haiku.
And back in bandom,
fiddleyoumust wrote some amazing Brendon/Spencer that manages to be funny and hot and realistic all in one. Check out
Never Kiss and Tell Or, How Brendon Urie Never Got to Top Again: A Cautionary Tale.
Equally hot, but in a different way, is
samedifference_'s
Let Me Drown While I Learn How to Swim, in which Brendon is an exhibitionist (no surprise) while Shane is along for the ride.
And in the I Can't Believe This Works, And Yet . . Category, we've got
airgiodslv's
'Tis the Season. Y'all, it is fairy mpreg, but it still manages to be sweet and funny and magical, which is a kind of magic all its own. There are also follow ups! One, also by
airgiodslv, which features William and Gabe:
Since We've No Place to Go, and one by
adyllena which features Pete/Ryland:
Make the Season Bright.
Back out from under the cut, I've got two requests for everyone. The first is this -- is there anyone on my FList who lived in/around Greenwich Village in the late '70's/early '80's? I need some neighborhood info for a story that I'm writing -- what kind of stuff was around, the atmosphere, venues for shows, etc. and I could use a RL helper.
The second is easier, I hope. I've been trying to get back in the habit of carrying my camera with me, so I'm soliciting requests for the photo meme thing-y that always makes the rounds. Ask me for pictures of anything -- at home, out and about in the Land of Oak or the City by Bay, or even back East, if you'd like. It will probably take me a few weeks to get everything posted, especially any pictures from back home, but I'll do my best. The only caveat: Pictures steal my soul. (aka: I won't put identifying pictures of myself in LJ.)
Okay, back to tonight's Advent story. *waves*
