A Little of This and That

Learning that Panic at the Disco are going to be on Live at the World Cafe this Friday is making me so homesick for the sounds of WXPN. It is, hands down, one of the best radio stations in the country, at least that I'm aware of, and if you are within shouting distance of Philadelphia, you should give it a try.

Barring that, Live at the World Cafe does archive its shows, so you can catch up on anything you missed, as it appears I'll have to do, since the closest NPR station that broadcasts the World Cafe is in Mt. Shasta. WTF, NorCal? I thought you all were music lovers. And WXPN streams live, so if you want to sample it, you can.

If you do, though, think about tossing them a few bucks -- they're public radio, and they're always on the brink of collapse. Plus, their Live at the World Cafe fundraiser cds are almost always awesome. I'm thinking about stocking up on the last few because I am a completist, and since I'm no longer a member, I've missed the last few that used to come automatically with my subscription.

Which brings me to part of the second of my pointless post. I used to learn about almost every new artist/band that I liked/loved through WXPN. And even though miss_begonia is a musical encyclopedia who is super-generous with her stash, I'm wondering what y'all are listening to these days. I'm in the mood for some exciting new discoveries.

Also, also, speaking of miss_begonia, if anyone knows where the punk-ish cover of Kelly Clarkson's Since U Been Gone by A Day to Remember can be, um, acquired, it would help a sister out.

In conclusion, thanks to ethrosdemon, I know now that Ryan Ross has a new blog. He talks about walking whales and disses Tokio Hotel. It's pretty awesome, and also punctuated, which makes me happy.
