Dream § 007 § Death The Kid: Combat Butler

Mar 21, 2009 17:34

[Anyone seen Hayate no Gotoku? No? Well, just picture Kid in this outfit, and you're set. ...No, wait, not that one, this one.]

It's going to be one of those days, Kid thinks as he prepares the tea. It's a weekend, so Maka is home all day from her schooling at the prestigious Shibusen Academy, and that... can be very distracting. Lately, for instance, she's taken to going around and messing with everything that he's so carefully symmetrized- she says that it looks better and more lived-in if the furniture is arranged imperfectly, but he assumes she must be joking. After all, living in an asymmetrical house would be... disgusting. He shudders to think of it.

And then there are always the assassination attempts... well, he'll worry about that later. For now, he brings her the tea, noticing that she's lost in her studies already. Commendable, her commitment to knowledge. "Your tea, Milady."

She smiles up at him and he almost blushes, setting the tea platter down in front of her. He's lucky to be able to serve such a pretty, symmertrical mistress, even if she's above his station and it's improper to want her. "Ah, Kid-kun. I have a surprise for you."

"...A surprise, Milady?" he's learned, after much trial-and-error (and getting pushed out windows, and attacked by yakuza, and mauled by various wild animals) to be wary of surprises in this house.

But she only nods innocently and points to the corner, where he sees a...

Tiger. A tiger. She bought a tiger. He just stares for a minute.

"Well? Do you like her?"

"Ah... Milady, does this not seem just the tiniest bit unsafe to you?"

"Well, yes. That's why I'm giving her to you. Papa sent her over as a present, but I don't want anything to do with that man. So, you can have her."

A tiger. She gave him a tiger. He's certain she means well, but... where is he going to keep a tiger?! As he's pondering this, it wanders over to him and rubs against his legs- just like a big cat. Which it is. A really, really big cat. "Good kitty?" he says nervously, reaching down to pet the tiger, at which point there's a spirited 'poof!' noise, and...

He finds himself reaching down towards the bare chest of a human girl with long, purple hair and tiger ears. He jerks his hand back immediately, blushing furiously and babbling apologies, but the damage has been done. "Pervert!" Maka yells and hits him hard over the back of the head with a textbook, and all he sees is black.

When he wakes up again, there's a lot of crashing and yelling going on in the background- he opens the door and stares out into the hallway, where a pack of angry men with expensive-looking suits and pointy swords are milling about purposefully, knocking over vases and poking behind tapestries. Someone tips over a priceless statue, and Kid coughs loudly, addressing the masses. "Excuse me, but what do you think you're doing in this house?"

At that point, one of them barges triumphantly out of another room, and that becomes apparent enough- he's holding a kicking, struggling Maka, who is currently glaring daggers at him. Kid is having none of that, of course. In no time flat, he's delivered a punishing kick to the thug's head, and sent the rest of them packing with a severe warning.

"You didn't have to do that," Maka mutters, looking disgruntled. "I could have handled them myself."

He nods, not doubting that- "I know, Milady. But it is my duty to protect you, no matter what."

That was... different... This 'butler' thing is clearly not having a good effect on me.

blair, i blame you tamaki, a life of servitude, maka, obscure reference is go!, white day event wtf
