That sounds awesome! And I love those names! XD

I do have a story picked out, yes. It's...kind of rambling by way of plot. ^^; Basically, things kick off when King Prospero holds a celebration in his kingdom for two purposes - to commemorate his daughter, Princess Margaret's coming-of-age...ness (I still have to work that bit out) with a ruby tiara, and to give congrats to his soldiers for killing a shapeshifting monster named Otr, which had been eating all of the kingdom's fish. Thing is, Otr's witch mother (Sycorax) is not very happy and sends Setebos (her general/lover) and Fafnir (her dragon son) to destroy the castle. In the process, everyone is scattered, which is where the adventure begins for the heroine, Miranda. Miranda is an orphan and a servant who knows virtually nothing of the world, but realizes she has to get her act together if he's going to survive. She's helped by a mysterious guy in a mask and bearskin who calls himself Caliban, but she's going to need more help. After all, King Prosperos is dead, Margaret is a prisoner, and Fafnir, Sycorax, and Setebos are sitting pretty in the remains of the castle. *Someeone* has to do something about this, and Miranda figures she's as good as anyone.

So her quest begins. Her party is joined by a werewolf and elf mercenary team, and she is promised a sword upgrade by the dwarf Regin (the unfavorite of Sycorax's children), if she'd just steal for him his ring and four precious stones. And of course the children of the chief of the Noma people of the desert are kidnapped and the elven city of Lithe is under attack, and that all must be taken care of as well. Add in some pissed werewolves and three (or possibly nine) goddesses trying to chronicle the whole ordeal, and that's the size of it.

Now, if only I could get the world map sorted and the cities named. O_o

I hate to toot my own horn, but I love my names too! Ha-ha!

Of course that's not saying the names you have chosen are bad :D (although every time I here the name Margret I think of Magrat from Discworld -_-' ...)

~~~
But wow; I hope you can organize that all, because other than the rambling disorganization - I'd totally read that story! :D
I do like Miranda's 'someones gotta do it, might as well be me' way of thinking. Despite her inexperience and flaws she's willing to try her best and I like that in a main character. :D
Are you using Scrivener? I started using it and I have to admit it helped a ton. Although it hasn't helped me with city names either... :( Sometimes inspiration comes from the most unlikely places so I just have to remain hopeful that such a bolt hits me soon - I hope one hits you too of course! :D
I guess the best we can do is wish each other luck. :D
(I'm getting a bit nervous, but whenever I do I go into the pep-talk archives and re-read either Neil Gaiman's or Lemony Snickets pep talks; those one pep me up a lot!)
Thanks! ^^ I...erm, sort of took names from various mythologies. The humans have names from The Tempest (as do the witch and her general), the witch's children have names from Norse mythology, the elves have names from Irish mythology, the werewolves have names from Japanese mythology, and the Noma have names from Hindu mythology. Margaret is the exception, because I read about Saint Margaret, who was kidnapped by a dragon, and totally had to use that name! XD
I think it might divide into two stories, with the first being her getting the precious stones and saving the Elven city (killing Fafnir and wounding Setebos in the process) and the second being her saving Margaret and chasing down Sycorax and Setebos.
Thanks! ^_^ With Miranda, I want to hit a balance between "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere! :D" and "Oh me, I'm so humble and happy to stay by my little hearth!"
No, I've never heard of Scrivener before. Like with the names, I like to use famous cities for my city-states. ^^
Aw, thanks! The best of luck to you as well!
Here's to thirty days and thirty nights of literary abandon! :D
