No, I agree. I think the endless arguments about OWBN specific genre vs. WoD canon needed a flashpoint, something extreme to really make the break. I personally think this was a bit much, but really just because of it being a Player. If they made an NPC an Archon, fine. If they had the Giovanni join the cam, great.

Of course, that's just my knee-jerk reaction, and like all things, it will probably not be as awful as I envision :-p

It will likely be fine.

The part that ticks me off is that they didn't contact my STs about this.

You're a good boy, Rojir. It's the nature of players to try to do what they want to do. It's the STs and administrator's job to put their foot down appropriately <3

Yes, and I don't think anyone would necessarily want to put their foot down, but rather, make me walk a different path IC to make this happen.

And, being one of the administrators of this organization, I do feel responsible that this wasn't handled correctly.

Yeah, I think that's what got my goat. I think a longer, drawn out story akin to:

"God damn Johnathan has been flouting the rules. He doesn't believe in the Family Way. What is your will, Augustus?"

"Give him what he wants, and let him choke on it."

With the idea that Johnathan would realize that his prestige and influence came at least in part from his family. That as a 1 status nobody Caitiff he'd lose all that prestige and realize maybe, that he didn't have it so bad before.

Just auto-promotion to Archon ruins that, because, in OWBN Genre, Archon is like a promotion from Prince :-p Johnathan Giovanni walks in the door and is given ultimate accolades :-p Sure, maybe in WoD Genre, which OWBN is very loosely based off of, being an Archon is less prestige and more grit, but frankly that's just not true in OWBN. PC Archons exist because there are a lot of real old PCs that have been Prince several times already, and they needed something to do with these PCs.

I'd really like to suffer as a Caitiff, treated poorly, despite position. If I'm not working in an official capacity, I should be treated like absolute crap. Hell, even then, as long as investigations aren't interfered with.

That reminds me of when I made my last character, a Ravnos, so I could play a character who was not really liked by everyone and an outcast.

Who eventually got established sabbat ties with the midwest, all my backgrounds and abilities at 5, a fake religion people were paying to get into, and 5 cam status on top of it all.

That's when I quit, because when you can get away with everything you want, even as an outcast with connection to antagonists, where's the challenge? :o(

Yeah, I'm thinking about that.

You should make a totally separate changeling larp, and I'll play a redcap and destroy everyone. That's obviously the answer.

How is the New Changeling game?

I like it, actually, the idea is good. It's very different from the old changeling, very dark, but it's got a lot of potential for awesome

To me, it seems like many people have a lot of problems divorcing Player from Character. If your PCs always quickly rise to the top, regardless of how they are played or what they are... there comes a time when you have to wonder whether it isn't primarily because people like you as a player :-p

And I mean this in a generalized sense, not you specifically.

Wow, that being true makes it extra bad. Particularly in light of the fact that your STs, if they didn't like this significantly, could have just moved to GNC the PC, end of story.

Hell, even if a Brujah is going to be made an Archon, it should go through the local STs.

Agreed.

The people who are doing this are new, and very apologetic, and are taking as many steps as they can to rectify the situation without screwing over the innocent (:P) in the process.
