I wrote this article about meeting JT & Casey of Hawthorne.
I'll be bashed by kids at my school, most likely, but I don't think I can stand writting about another local band, that either doesnt play anymore, or who broke up like a month after i do this full article on how amazing i think they are. The last paragraph isn't done. I don't know where that will lead. If anyone wants to read and be a critic let me know. I don't want it to be about whether you like Hawthorne or not, I want it to be abou my writting. Also, let me know about spelling mistakes or gramar if your picky!

A lot of my friends know me for two things, being obsessed with music, and going to concerts. I go to atleast one concert, or one local show a month, but I was never lucky enough to meet any of the bands, until about two months ago. On June 29th, I attended a Yellowcard and Hawthorne Heights concert, at Station Park in Providence, RI. It was an amazing show. And because there we're no opening bands, both bands played almost an hour and a half long set. It was outdoors, and everyone was lucky enough, that it didn't start to rain. The show started at 5:30, but the gates opened around 4:30. I went with a friend, and we got pretty close to the stage, probably three or four rows of people back.
My friend Kate, and I never thought we'd meet anyone, we we're pretty discouraged before the show even started. We we're standing in the crowd before the show began, and I looked over my shoulder, and I saw Micah Carli, one of the guitarist of Hawthorne Heights standing against the fence. He was with a photographer, but mostly by himself. We we're debating whether or not it was actually him. When he walked on stage with the band, we we're kicking ourselves, to say the least.
Our second encounter happened after the show, when we we're walking around the Providence Place Mall, across the street from where the concert was held. We had went inside the mall to get something to drink. As we we're walking towards the food court, we walked past the bassist, Matt Ridenour. He was comming out of Game Stop, and we didn't realize it was him until after, he had passed us, and was out of view. We headed to the food court to get a drink, and figured we had struck out for the day. Kate decided that we should go check out Newbury Comics, and see if they had any t-shirts.
We decided right then, that three times is a charm. When we walked into Newbury Comics, Kate noticed that Casey Calvert, the guitarist of Hawthorne Heights was standing at one of the CD racks. He was talking to a younger boy, and the boy's father. We weren't sure what to do, so we walked around the backside of the CD rack, then we walked around Casey. Finally I decided to call his name. He came over right away, and said hello. He was really sweet, he didn't mind taking pictures, or talking for a bit. I couldn't think of anything to say, I was just in awe. We didn't want to bother him too much, so we took pictures and left. It's amazing how, even though your band is sucessfull, you still go into a public place, all by yourself, and just browse through cds, but truthfully, guys in bands are people too, you know?
We completely forgot about the t-shirts we had gone in to buy, and headed towards the exit to meet Kate's mother. When we came down the last escalator, there we're four girls standing at the bottom. They told us that the lead singer of the band was in Borders, and he was talking to everyone. When we got into Borders, Jt Woodruff was on his way out of the store. About five girls we're following him out, and he stopped and took pictures. I went by myself, because Kate was still shocked. I got a picture with him, and he told us that the Providence show was going down in the record books, and how amazing the crowd was. I couldn't believe what had a happened. I was shaking on my way back to the car. You never know what's going to happen at a show. And it seems that each show tops the one before it.
It's really not hard to meet band members. A lot of bands even have free meet and greets before or after each show. A lot of the time the bigger the band gets the harder it is to meet band members, but you can get lucky. One of the best concerts to meet band members at is the Warped Tour. Everyday atleast half of the 50 bands that play one the Warped Tour, come out to meet fans, and sign autographs. If you can't make it out to the Warped Tour in the summer, there is other things you could do to meet band members. If you get to the venue really early, there is a possiblilty that you can meet the band as they are entering.
