don't you ever give up on whiskey and beer.

Dear FUTURESELF,

What do you do when you are stressed out beyond any sensible words, or already lengthy explanations? Toast to yourself.

This letter is not aiming to bring you closer to alcoholism, but toward stress management that actually works. This current version of you is learning that most other techniques are not entirely useful. Sure, running is great. Breathing and counting has occasional success. Creativity is always an amazing anchor when it is aplenty. You can still do that. So, what do you do when all other becoming ventures have been exhausted, or when there isn't enough propriety to wrap around your stress and shrink it down? Drink. Yeah, yeah, look at where that got your unknown grandparents. What do ya think made them so unknown, you'll think. Well, just drink. You're not them. But I'm telling you, money woes and consistent defeats ain't nothin versus a single decent-in-alcohol-content intoxicant. Some people can get through everything without a sip of anything deemed poisonous. Sometimes, you won't be one of them. It doesn't really matter. Don't be too hard on yourself. You're good at moderation, you always have been. You're even better at limits. Don't worry about it. Forget that "Never Drink by Yourself" self-imposed rule. You'll be fine.

Throw in some of your preferred foods, too. Complete momentary cure. You can panic another time when it is more productive.

Cheers,
You

p.s. Try not to pick up smoking, officially. I'm not really worried about that, but I'd rather just continue with the reminders. I know how that would make you feel if you started. I don't want that.
