I'm a Nurse!
WOW! So I haven't written in here since 2012! Now that I deleted my Facebook account, I'll have to utilize this more to get my thoughts out there. I think it'll be helpful to vent to someone other than Tony. I'm sure he'll appreciate that!
Since the last entry, I have graduated nursing school and passed my boards. Took me 3 tries, but I finally got it. The first time, I didn't really know what I was doing. The second time I was sick (I'll address that in a minute). the third time, I completely devoted myself to studying. Mom came over and helped me just about every day. Katie was supposed to help me but that didn't really work out, but that's okay; I passed!!
After graduating from nursing school, Hanna got me a job with her at Pints and Quarts. I didn't make much $$$ at all, but it put money in my pocket and I was able to help Tony with the bills. [Oh yeah, Tony and I moved in together in August too!] I thought I was only gonna be there for a few months so I just became a food expediter, but I was actually there for 5 months, mostly due to three NCLEX attempts. Working at Pints was fun, but everything changed after the Salmonella incident. That's another headache I've been dealing with. My brain hurts just thinking about it. My comp claim still hasn't gone all the way through and now I got another bill that Auto Owners only partially covered it. I'm too poor to pay the rest of it. With all of the bills that I had to pay, I hope they're not just going to cover small portions.....
But now that I'm all done with Pints, I have a job at Mercy Health as a Registered Nurse in the Float position!!! I finally have a career where I will be making a living, not just having a paycheck to paycheck job. I'm so excited to start on the floors! This week has been all orientation, and I'm exhausted. It's probably just because everything is lectures and boring stuff. Tomorrow should be a good day though. I'm going to be learning the charting system so it should actually feel like I'm doing something, not just being lectured. Cuz that sucks!
The weather lately has SUCKED!! We have gotten so much snow it's ridiculous! OV has already had 6 snow days! If they get anymore, they have to start making up days. Sucks to be them!! It sucks too because it's only January! There's still 2 more months of snow! The county is wayyyyyyy over budget on snow removal. I can't believe how crazy it is! Also, it snowed in Georgia. On Good Morning America this morning, they were talking about how bad the roads were and that drivers were abandoning their cars on the highway. Some people were stuck on the highway for 16-20 hours. They called in the National Guard to bring them MRE's. Just guess how much snow they got.... 2 inches. 2 INCHES 77 THE WORLD CAME TO AN END! We got like 15 inches in one day, and we acted like nothing happened. Down south, the kids stayed the night at school because it wasn't safe to go home. Seriously!?! I think these people need to experience a Michigan weather! I understand that they don't have 8000 snowplows like we do up here, but come on! 2 inches?! If a school closed in Michigan because there was 2 inches of snow on the ground.... wait, they never would! We have been driving on nothing but complete ice for the past 2-3 weeks. Yeah, there's been accidents, but you don't hear about the record breaking weather on the weather channel or anywhere else, just the snow in Georgia.
I just fell asleep watching Jeopardy! again. Man, I'm getting old! A $2,000 question today was about the Detroit Lions though! The category was NFL Stadiums. The question was: Naturally, the Lions play at this Detroit Field. No one got it right. No one even attempted it. Just think about it poeple. What is Detroit known for (other than crime and bankruptcy)? Mo-Town ring a bell?? I can't believe that was the $2000 question. Maybe because I'm from Michigan I think it's easy, but these people are supposed to be smart! haha
Well, it's about that time. Gotta get up early and live the dream some more. Gonna see my Medical Records girls tomorrow so that's exciting! I told Danielle that I would be stopping by, but she doesn't know when, and I don't know if she told anyone else. Pretty excited tho! I miss them! Can't wait for the merger to go through so they'll be at the Mercy Campus and I'll be able to see them more often!!! Good Night!!!
