random thoughts:
-my snow boots sorta make me feel like a dinosaur able to stomp through anything. its fairly exciting. especially now that ive properly taped-uped my ankles so they dont bleed anymore.
-i had my first video of my presentation today, and my boss said i was a natural at this. so maybe this is what im supposed to be doing careerwise... weird.
-i still dont get why patriotism is so gosh darn important. i mean, some people rank it up there with being clean and Godly (or else im reading too much 18th century lit....). other than from an evolutionary standpoint, i dont see the point. if anything, i keep seeing the negative of blindly following your countrys leaders and then starting wars. people have been known to join the army just to support their country even if they dont believe in the cause. think about it: these people are willing to die for something they dont agree with, just cause their country says so. that sounds just a little fucked up to me. why is it that having a global viewpoint is almost a negative thing?
-potluck on friday we talked about development (after Kim spent two hours thinking about it... hehe).
*in order for the work currently being done to actually have any effect, the current debts need to be forgiven. there is no way developing countries will be able to be on somewhat equal footing with us otherwise.
*north americans want to help the rest of the world become like us. however, we (well, americans. but really, theres only 35 million canadians, so we'll pretend their americans for the sake of the exercise. but i wont do it again!) consume 25% of the worlds resources. thus, if everyone were like us, we'd run out of resources pretty darn fast.
^ergo, realistically, we need to lower our standards for living. and really, who wants to do that, other than us crazy hippies?

-i have a blender now!!! courtesy of the lovely Alexis and Natasha!! i can start learning how to make soup!! and i can make milkshakes!! (not smoothies, cause i believe those should really just be milkshakes with more fruit. none of this watery, fruit-only business).
