[It's been a day. Nothing's improved.

Still, Lucifer sounds remarkably calm--it's not possible to tell where he is.]

Gabriel. We need to talk.

[Well, calm. And also a little out of breath.]

[He's still furious and depressed and not anywhere near about to let what was done just go, but he's extremely adaptable and for now, he's accepted it. So he can be quiet, and listen, and take in what Lucifer's saying.

It's strange, but he does realize that of all the threats and opponents he's had, Lucifer is really the only one he can hold a discussion with. He is also still a potentially useful ally, and if not that, then at least it would be beneficial for him not to be an enemy.]

I was trying to find a way to be certain I could protect those here. There are particular individuals I know you had specific interest in and despite our agreement, I didn't believe you would let them be.

[It was truthful, as he decides to match Lucifer's honesty with his own. He has no real reason to lie anymore anyway, with everything in the open and little investment in what might come of this information being public anyway.

The concession is a surprise, and it takes a moment before he can respond.]

I understand the logic behind it, but I can't forgive it.

However, I never believed it was your idea.

[He's given up trying to fight the idea that he and Lucifer were very much alike, because he's actually begun to understand, he thinks. On one very, very large topic in which they'd differed, the vision they'd seen has changed his opinion, and he offers his own concession.]

You were right as well. About our Father.

[Lucifer looks at him in more surprise than he would ever have shown with all his marbles in tact.]

...I am sorry you had to learn that truth the way you have. The pain of losing faith in Him-- there is no way to describe it.

It isn't the first time.

[He just shouldn't have made the mistake of changing his mind on it to begin with.]
