There is a door.

Angua is staring at this door like it's some kind of enemy.

If the door had a jugular (and were, in fact, sentient, which it very well may be in the Inn), it would get the uncomfortable feeling that Angua is staring at it far too intently.

"Is it this door, specifically, that you want to kill or do you just have a deep founded hatred for doors in general?" Xander raises an eyebrow at her, smirking a little.

Angua spares a quick glance for Xander and a brief sort-of smile before returning her attention to the door. "I'm wondering why this door, specifically, is here now. It's been gone for six months."

[xandtheman]

"It has?"

Xander stares at it suspiciously now. "But I thought... hasn't it always been here?

[nightwatchwolf]

"For most people. Some people get stuck. I got locked in when I first arrived."

And now it's back. This, in Angua's mind, is cause for suspicion.

[xandtheman]

"Oh, okay." So, his powers of observation have not been severely skewed as he was starting to think. "So you've been here for six months? Geeze."

[nightwatchwolf]

"Yes. Not a bad place to be stuck, all things considered, even if I wasn't planning it."

As a matter of fact, after that long, she's not sure she wants to leave. But the fact that the door is there seems to require some action.

[xandtheman]

"Oh. So you think the door means that the inn's trying to tell you to get the hell out or somethin?" Xander is now glaring at the door, himself. "Well, you don't have to listen to it or anything!"

[nightwatchwolf]

"Not in such words, no, but essentially... Why else would it be here?"

She appreciates Xander's efforts in glaring at the door too. It's nice of him.

[xandtheman]

"To mess with you." Xander says, very matter of factly. "To make you think that you should go back when you really don't have to. The Inn likes to play with your mind."

[nightwatchwolf]

"I really don't think it's malicious," she says, glancing over to smile a little at him. "Most of the time, at least."

[xandtheman]

"Yeah, I guess." It's not like the Inn's ever specifically been mean to him. "You were just looking at the door like you wanted to attack it... I am easily influenced." Especially by pretty women.

[nightwatchwolf]

She chuckles softly. "I appreciate the solidarity. I just don't know whether I ought to listen to the Inn's suggestion or not."

After all... she's only just arrived in Ankh-Morpork, out there. She doesn't really know anyone there. She knows people here, and likes them. And what if she can't get back?

[xandtheman]

"I wonder what would happen if you didn't listen to the inn." Xander raises an eyebrow.

"I mean... really, what's it gonna do if you don't?"

[nightwatchwolf]

She frowns, and then shrugs. "I don't know. It's possible it won't feed me or something. Or not let me get back to my room..."

[xandtheman]

"Really? Man, the Inn can be a jerk." Xander glares at the door again, and then glances at her. "Hey, how come you don't wanna go back, anyway? Don't you miss your family or anything?"

[nightwatchwolf]

"Well, I don't know that it actually will, I was just speculating." She catches Xander's eye, and pauses before answering. "I'm not... close with my family. And I don't know many people where I came in from."
