Entering -- two very distracted girls

Jun 20, 2007 22:10

Maureen actually came in a couple of hours ago, but she made a beeline for her room, relieved to find the key in her pocket (despite it not being there when she left the apartment this morning). She's just come back downstairs, though, and curled up in an armchair with a cup of hot coffee. She looks pretty tired, and more than a little thoughtful.
Anybody she "knows" will likely get a clinging right about now, regardless of them not quite being her friends, or maybe because they aren't quite her friends.

And River's just come through the door, her eyes on her feet and her arms around herself. Once she realizes she's not back in her room, it takes a moment to recognize where she is -- she hasn't thought about this place in a while, since she left (unnoticed and unceremonially, after realizing how much she missed Simon) -- and if there's a flash of relief in her eyes after she notices, well, it's gone in barely a second. She's noticably meeker than last time, if not much older.
She sits herself at a table, feet firmly on the floor and back straight, eyes fixed on the table. After a moment, there's a cup of tea in her hands -- she whispers a near-silent thank you into the air, but doesn't move.

Feel free to distract either of them from their thoughts.

[OOC: I'm still alive! Really! Um. Anyway. Maureen's from circa early Spring, the start of Without You. River's from very-early-Academy, maybe a couple of days after Session 22 of the R. Tam Sessions.]
