The door opens, and Pepper walks into the Inn wearing red stiletto heels, a green short-ish skirt, and black shirt, along with a red scarf. More importantly, in her mind, she is working on her Blackberry, confirming attendees at Tony's Christmas party, not to mention, confirming the alcohol delivery

"One would think," Jarvis says as he sits down, "that you would take advantage of a few moments' peace and stop working."
On the other hand, it's Pepper. She... doesn't stop.

"I had to finish the guest list for Tony's party." Pepper sighs. "It's one of those anyone-who-is-anyone is there. There are actually bets being made on who he's going home with."

"No one. He'll be too drunk to get anything done."
Jarvis has seen a few Christmas parties, in his time. He knows how this one goes.

"That was my bet, but Hogan seemed to think it would be some actress." Pepper shrugs. "Who knows. All I do know is that it won't be me."

"Rather not. Would you like me to go with you?"
For, you know. Added insurance against Tony's drunken flirtations.

Pepper beams. "I would love that, Jarvis." She pauses. "Good thing it's not going to be in the house, really."

"...Rather. That would be quite the mess to recover from."
It's just as well to let someone else do the work. If all that were in the house, no one but Pepper would attempt it.

"It would." she sighs. "I'd be cleaning up for weeks." She smiles at him. "And, I really don't think Tony would like me commandeering his pet robots to pick up used beer bottles."

"It would be more productive work than most of them see in a month, in any case."
And maybe Dummy wouldn't douse them for fire safety.

"Probably. What's Tony been using them for lately? Magnifying-glass holder again?" Pepper laughs. "Then again, his robots are glorified hands, and I'm just a glorified secretary."

"You're far more than asecretary, dear."
Jarvis knows she'll probably have to hear it from Tony before she can begin to accept it, but.

She shrugs idly. "I'm not so sure about that, Jarvis. Doesn't matter right now, anyway." Picking up the blackberry, she pokes at it for a moment. "Well, at least we have the place reserved for the party."

"Good."
So now she can stop for a minute, right?

It's Pepper, what else do you expect? She keeps poking at the blackberry. "Alright, we'll have both food and alcohol, and all that's left is the final guest list."

Which is all well and good, but.
"Have you had dinner?"

[yes_mr_stark]

"Oh, um. No, I haven't." Pepper shrugs. You might not want to ask her about lunch, Jarvis.
