Collins is hunched over a laptop, working on something. Every so often, he turns from the screen to cough. A small cup with assorted medications appears. "All right, I get your point," he grumbles to the ceiling before downing the meds.

So clearly, what Collins needs is some company, in the form of a drag queen. (Angel is wearing a skirt, as it happens.)
"How're you holding up?"

(OOC: I... have a feeling this is not the first time Angel and Collins have talked since 9/11, even though Angel is only just now deigning to tell me anything. Or possibly it's more that Jarvis drowned him out for a while. XD)

"Better. The cough isn't as bad." Collins won't lie to Angel--he knows better.

"Good." Angel's sure he's not the only one hoping like hell this one doesn't take a total nosedive.
"And how's your experiment going?"

"Wall Street is going to hate me without knowing it's me that they'll be collectively hating." Which probably tells Angel everything without necessary details.

It's good to be a computer genius.

Angel grins. "You mean they don't already?"

"Baby, they had no reason to before now. I was just an eccentric little restaurant owner with an interesting past."

"Fair enough. Still, it was worth asking."
And now people are going to want to know why they can't get anything useful done.

"Can't say that I have. I think we keep missing each other, lately."
(More like the narration's once-loudest character has been effectively drowned out by a sarcastic AI. But these things happen.)

"I doubt Mark mentioned anything when he told you what happened last month, considering the panic everyone was in. She's pregnant again. Mark's on clouds."

Angel grins. "Oh, good for them. They know if it's a boy or a girl yet?"

"Too soon to tell. They found out the same day everything else went down." Collins coughs again and makes a face. "I'll be glad when this is done."

"Damn. Talk about your emotional roller-coasters."
The cough gets a concerned look, but Angel doesn't comment on it.

"Probably sounds selfish, but I'm glad you didn't have to see it, baby." He's said it before, but it bears repeating.

"Believe me, so am I."
For one thing, it was bad enough seeing how much it tore up his family without actually being there. For another... well, given the former state of Angel's immune system, that would have done him in for sure.
(You can't tell the narration he wouldn't have been there helping.)

They all would have been down there--almost all of them were as it was.

"We could spend Halloween in Santa Fe if you'd like this year," Collins offers after a few seconds of finishing code. Unspoken: the city hasn't yet begun to recuperate. Time for sunshine, and thank God for interdimensional keys.
