Martha Jones is leaving at last.
It's time. Far, past time. She waited as long as she could. Martha has her backpack ready, her antiboitics stocked up, and she's ready.
She's been ready.
Well, she would leave, but she has to say goodbye first to certain individuals. So she waits by the door with an Irish coffee in her steady hand.

"Ah, Miss Martha Jones!" He smiles and approaches her, "On your way out again?"
Reply
"Yes, Doctor. 'fraid it's long past time that I was on my way." She's never one that could sit still for very long, even on doctor's orders. "Thought I'd stick around long enough to say my goodbyes though." Especially headed back into the world that she currently lives in. "How are you?"
Reply
Five smiles widely to her, even goes so far as to pat her arm lightly, "You take care, when you go. We'll have to take another adventure sometime, perhaps even a bit of tea, too."

Martha takes a slow sip of her drink.

Because really, he couldn't resist.

"I've missed her very much. I think the feeling's rather mutual." She laughs, fully, when he thinks up a cup of tea. "Of course."
She nods at the chair next to her. "You can sit if you'd like. I think I'll wait here for a little while before I leave."
Reply
At mention of the chair, he politely nods and takes up the seat. "I've been on my feet much too much lately, anyway."
After all, he did travel with the Master. And even at the thought, his rathe pleasant expression falters before slipping back into place. "How are things going in your world? Are they any better than before?" There's seriousness to his voice because he is genuinely concerned for her.
Reply
Which is probably a good thing, because if she knew the truth she might throttle him out of concern.
"They're... the same. They will be for a while still, I'm afraid. I've got four months left before the year's up and well, there's a chance things in the world will get better if this plan actually works." Martha smiles a little, but it's pained. She still can't help, but think of the Master's words. "D'you think that there are different versions of us running about here? I mean from parallel universes even?"
She's trying to decide how likely it will be that this Master is not of the same exact universe that she's from right now.

Five shrugs, "It is very possible, I suppose. With the way time works, I wouldn't doubt it. Though us meeting those selves has very poor odds. Funny thing, time."
Reply
Martha is incredibly thankful that the end of the world hasn't some how gotten worse.
She shakes her head, biting her lower lip for a moment.
"It's just... this whole thing involves the Master..." Martha tenses, automatically at saying his name out loud. "And he's actually here from the future. And he said there's still a chance that things will turn out differently for me." As in, she'll die and the world will end. Yay. "I guess I just wonder how much of a... chance.
Reply
Five doesn't tense at the name, but it is obvious he isn't rather pleased at hearing it. "He's trying to make you think otherwise, to break you. That's how he functions, especially as caged as he is here."
Five sighs and looks to her, "I thoroughly believe you will succeed, Martha, in all that you do. He is merely trying to fault your outcome by making you so very uncertain."
Reply
"Thank you. Yes, I know... I'll try to keep whatever he's said out of my head if I can manage it. It can be a bit... difficult, but he certainly won't be the one to break me."
No, the destroyed world's already done that fairly well.
She frowns a little, studying his expression. "Was he always like... this?"

It can change them dramatically. In fact, he still recalls his conversation with the Master, about going back to days when they were a spectacular, devious team.
Before there was righteousness and wrongdoing to divide them so. Before he had to worry about the Master ruining the future of Earth or any other part of the universe.
"If they let it change them/"
In the Master's case, he wasn't sure who was on the losing side, time or the Time Lord.

It's funny how she seems to know so many regenerations of the Doctor, and yet they each hold such a seperate place in her heart. Her relationship with each differs just enough.
She apparently comes to this one for advice or insight, at least more than she does for any other, it would seem.
"Yes. I suppose you're right." She takes a long drink from her cup. "Oh. Thank you... by the way, for your help when I was sick."
Reply
Five smiles brightly and looks about the room before his eyes land back on her, "You stay safe until you return, eh? I'd certainly like to see you back and in one healthy piece."
There's a pointed finger at her, but any stern sound to his voice is completely changed by the smile set on his face.
