And as we say our last goodbye... I nearly do.

Martha Jones is leaving at last.

It's time. Far, past time. She waited as long as she could. Martha has her backpack ready, her antiboitics stocked up, and she's ready.

She's been ready.

Well, she would leave, but she has to say goodbye first to certain individuals. So she waits by the door with an Irish coffee in her steady hand.

Angua stops a few feet from Logan, giving him a slightly baffled look. He smells different, like he's been somewhere she doesn't recognize, and for a while - except that the last time she spoke to him, he couldn't leave the Inn.

"Where have you been?"

Well, it's good to see her. Maybe she'll provide a nice distraction from thinking.

"Out. For once." And then Logan shrugs, because he realizes she'd figured out that much. "And not in Canada either. Some academy for mutant kids."

She snorts a little at his entirely unhelpful answer, and smiles, moving to pull up a chair facing him.

"I had guessed that. It's good that you were out. Though I didn't figure you for the school type."

Logan sighs.

"Yeah. Well. You're right. I ain't going to it. I'm just there cause some kid thought it'd be a good idea to stow away in my car after I got kicked out of the bar." He shakes his head. "And then some guy called Magneto goes 'n sends his lackey to try and kill me. Next thing I know these mutants in leather outfits with a jet show up and we're headin' for their little school."

He's leaving out the fact that he was unconscious for most of this.

Angua raises her eyebrows, staring at him with vague incomprehension. "This is all very complicated and I'm sure I won't understand it any better when you explain it. But... these people? Why did you go with them?"

Because he doesn't sound very thrilled about it.

"I don't even understand the most of it now. I mean I understand, but there's a whole helluva lot I still don't know."

Logan's face goes blank at her other question and folds his arms over his chest as he grumbles the answer (if he could, he wouldn't answer her, but he knows she won't stand for that). "Didn't have a choice. ...was unconscious."

Angua, to her credit, tries to suppress her laughter. For a second or two, and then she gives up.

"Well. That would explain it. I imagine you were fairly upset when you woke up."

Logan is not pleased with the laughing, but for his part, he manages not to comment on it.

"That's one way of puttin' it. Especially since I woke in some place that looked more like an underground secret... complex than an academy." For all he knew, it was a return to Experiment X. Jean's really rather lucky that he didn't kill her. "Stupid Xavier gets in your head, too. Just talks to you like he's right there, but he's not."

"Mmmm." She studies him thoughtfully for a moment, and then nods a little. "What do they want?"

"Don't know. Guess to figure out what Magneto wants with me." Logan shrugs and shakes his head. "That's another thing. They've all got these names. Magneto, Cyclops, Storm. I'm only staying cause they got a couple powerful psychics... might be the best chance to figure out more about my past."

That and he feels like he has to protect that rotten stowaway, who's taken up living at the academy. He doesn't trust these people to do it anyway.

Angua smiles faintly, folding her hands and resting her chin on them, elbows braced on her knees. "Perfectly reasonable, and as long as they're not trying to kill you like the other one, I can't say I object."

"Yeah. Guess I can't either." Even if sometimes he wishes he'd just been left alone in Canada for another few decades.

Even Logan realizes he can't stay hidden forever.

He's fairly certain he's tried before.

"So. How's it goin' with you?" A shoddy attempt at a subject change and small talk. He's desperate.

She sighs and rubs at the back of her neck, glancing away briefly. "I've been home. Just... the usual. Apprehending criminals, giving dwarfs makeup tips, running around on four legs every so often..."

Logan smirks.

"That all?" He takes in the sigh, the rubbing at her neck. "Don't seem too happy about... the usual."

She hesitates for a moment, mouth open like she means to say something, but the moment passes and she closes her mouth, thinking better of the words on the tip of her tongue.

"It's nothing. Just... you know. Life."

Logan sends her a disbelieving look.

He's not the most perceptive person, least not when it comes to this, but even he can see through it.

"Just life. That's real... descriptive."
