Larry does not have rocks in. Nor will he; he's got to go back to work, after all, and the narration doesn't have space for that much musical insanity in her head.
Larry does, however, have a sports-equipment catalogue. Nicky's birthday is in a week - over the weekend, so he'll be visiting - and Larry has the money to spend on something nice this year.
...Not that lacking the money for pretty much anything ever stopped him, in years past, but that's beside the point.
Just because he won't catch the bug doesn't mean he's not up for conversation.
