HERE THAR BE PUPS

So. The narration feels a bit guilty for not having posted certain people in for a while. So here's a post.

Kaylee has wandered in again, with a baby inna sling against her chest. She looks very cheerful about being here, and has thought up her usual treat of strawberries and cream to celebrate.

Florence is sitting at the bar, not even ( Read more... )

Logan has been with Angua in her world, but apparently the Inn never likes him to leave for very long periods.

He walks inside, knowing where he is instantly and without much surprise.

His gaze goes straight to his occupied corner and his whole body tenses, not like it does for the Master. More like it does when he's agitated. Damnit. That smell will last.

Allie hears him, and looks up sharply.

And just sort of glares half-heartedly.

...What, you were expecting her to say something?

Logan wasn't expecting her to say anything, but he wasn't expecting to say anything to her either.

She doesn't like him, right?

Maybe she'll leave if he gets really close.

Logan walks over and invades the corner a bit. Leaning against the wall as close as he can without, y'know, leaning against her.

Allie pulls in on herself more tightly, but doesn't budge.

She can be very stubborn.

Logan sinks down into a seat that he's just thought up and stretches his legs out across the corner, almost, but not quite touching her. She certainly has to talk to him in order to leave the corner... or y'know, decide to go over or under the fence that are his legs.

Yeah. Wolverine's stubborn, too.

Even when it comes to a young girl who shouldn't bother him AT ALL. The narration is a bit exasperated.

Time passes.

Ten or fifteen minutes, in fact. Allie is strong.

But finally, she has to ask. "Isn't there another corner you could skulk in?"

"No."

It's his brooding/sulking corner.

"And I ain't sulkin' either."

"I said skulk," she says disdainfully. "Should I think up a dictionary for you, or would that be above your reading level?"

Logan growls slightly. Not in earnest, but out of aggravation.

"I know what skulk is." He's incredibly smart or at least, he knows a whole helluva a lot, despite the lack of speaking in proper English. It's just he has no desire to prove it. Most of the time. "Look I done somethin' to offend you? Had plenty of people not like me before, but none of them seemed to take it so personal before."

Normally, Allie wouldn't say anything. Normally, Allie would lie, being a 'compulsive liar' and all. (The narration is starting to think she says that to give herself an excuse to fuck with people sometimes.)

Instead, she blurts out, "Because Angua's my only friend and she likes spending time with you better than with me."

And then promptly hides in her jacket.

Logan is not equipped to deal with these kinds of things.

Give someone he can fight.

Or a bomb he can make.

Or a Chinese or Japanese or German or Italian or Spanish person for him to translate for.

Or hell, beer challenge him (you will lose).

But not this.

"That's... some heavy assumptions 't make. 'Sides I think she likes spendin' out with her boyfriend more than she likes spendin' time with either of us."

It's his best attempt at comforting.

Allie smiles a tiny bit, though she's still hidden under her hood, so Logan wouldn't be able to tell.

"Yeah, I guess," comes the muffled response.

Logan shrugs and leans his head back against the wall.

"It's the best I got. This ain't exactly my specialty."

"What, assuming?"

She may be teasing. Or she may actually not get it.

Logan glances at her with an expression that seems to ask, 'why me'.

"No. The whole... talkin'... interactin' with people. Thing."

"Oh."

There's a brief pause.

"Me either."
