and you may find yourself in another part of the world

The door opens on a rather odd scene: Two humans, a dwarf, a troll, a rather tall skeleton, and a guitar, if a very primitive-looking one, apparently on the edge of a ravine of some sort. It's dusk, but not for much longer, from the looks of it.
It's also... oddly silent. Like some sort of background noise is missing.

River is sitting nearby when the door opens, and she finds herself watching the unfolding scene intently. She frowns, just slightly, as the something enters the Inn.

After the resonance has stopped, she offers a quiet, curious, "Hello?"

Hello. What is this place?
Odd sound, that... not-exactly-voice. Almost like it has a beat and you can dance to it.

River shifts restlessly as it speaks, matching the not-quite-beat of the words.

"It's the Inn," she says, as if it explains everything.

I can see that, dear. How does it work?
this is not my beautiful house
It's the sort of question any newbie would have, really.

River's never been the best person to explain it, but she tries. "It just... works. Responds to thoughts. Runs on a logic of its own." She shrugs, not sure how else to put it.

River closes her eyes to listen to the words. The longer she talks to... whatever this is, the more she can hear the rhythm behind it. It makes her want to dance, maybe even sing.
Close your eyes, for your eyes can only tell the truth...
"Yes. It is." She pauses for only a second before asking, "What are you?"

I give the universe its beat. It is both what I am and what I do.

She does rather have the build of a dancer, doesn't she?

River considers this for a moment. Then she grins, but it's much different from her usual grin.

"Interesting." Her fingers tap out a rhythm on the arm of the chair as she speaks.

I find it so, yes. As well as a good way to pass the time.
will I ever tire?
It's funny, isn't it, how something without a body can give the impression of a triumphant smile. But then, it's rather enjoying this place so far. And the people.
