and you may find yourself in another part of the world

The door opens on a rather odd scene: Two humans, a dwarf, a troll, a rather tall skeleton, and a guitar, if a very primitive-looking one, apparently on the edge of a ravine of some sort. It's dusk, but not for much longer, from the looks of it.
It's also... oddly silent. Like some sort of background noise is missing.

Maggie glances up as the door opens, and freezes in place, eyes locked on the skeleton. For a moment,a long moment, she fears he's come to take her again, to drag her back to hell.

But the moment passes, as the door closes. Maggie fumbles with her pentacle, muttering softly to herself, protectively. But something... She can feel something there, just on the edge of her senses.

"Hello?"

Yes?
The music, somewhat to its chagrin, is nearly as confused as any other newcomer to the inn would be. But no matter; it can gain an upper hand eventually, surely.

She steps back quickly, her hand clutching her necklace tighter. She's not exactly scared, but her old teacher once taught her never to trust anything that you can't tell where it keeps its brains. "What are you?"

...And that caution just might save her, depending on how things play out.
The sound that brought the universe into being. Nothing more nor less.

"You're the big bang?" She glances back and forth, and, in another bar, might have looked upwards. Instead she just looks back towards where the sound is...ish. "Kinda quiet for that, huh?"

Maggie might get the feeling she's being scoffed at, a little.
they say the heart of rock and roll is still beating
Big bang? Please. That implies a certain amount of... disorganization. If it were only a bang, there would be no underlying beat.

"Beat? A bang and a beat are..." Her lips keep moving, but no sound issues forth as her mind works that over. "Musical."

Funny, how something without a body can give the impression of smiling.
Precisely.

She steps first to one side, then the other, trying to actually get a look at this thing. "You're music? Pure music?"

Well, yes. What else would I be?
Maggie's seeing... what looks like a cloud of blue sparks, with a few white ones thrown in, in the closest analogy.

"Why?" Seriously, it's just the most obvious question.

Otherwise, what would give the universe its rhythm?

She opens her mouth to reply, then closes it quite quickly. "What indeed?" she mutters to herself, and then to it. "Well, then, what do you do?"

I keep up the beat. And find like minds, when possible.
And gee, here's a whole new building full of potentially like minds. (It's not too sure about this girl, though. She's got her guard up quite well, far as it's any judge.)

"Like minds?" Okay, now it's got her curiosity.

Those that understand the rhythm and its full potential. There are some who do, and some who are... more resistant to its charms, for one reason or another.
The music really does feel sorry for such people. They just don't know what they're missing.
