It wasn't about the Star Spangled Banner!

Tonight could not possibly get worse. There's a good chance the show's going to end, and that will mean she and almost all of her friends are abruptly out of work. Harriet is not a pessimist, but she can't convince herself things could possibly be any worse. Then, if she were a pessimist, she'd be convinced it could and is going to get worse, but ( Read more... )

"No, I really don't think so, and you know why?" A certain dark-haired ex-boyfriend calls from a table a little ways away. "Because Jack and the new NBS president are trying to blackmail me and Danny into running the show, and I do not take kindly to that."

He pauses thoughtfully. "Also, my painkillers are going to wear off soon, and I really don't want to think about how I'm going to feel about all of this when I'm not high off my ass."

Harriet jumps about a foot in the air when she hears Matt's voice, her heart pounding in her chest. Of all the people she could have run into, even a complete stranger, all of them would have been more expected and more welcome than Matt. Not today.

"Matthew, what are you-" And then his words catch up with her, and she stares at him in incomprehension. "You're coming back to the show?"

He does his signature little spaz-and-flail maneuver. "No, Harry, we're not coming back to the show, I said they were trying to blackmail us into coming back to the show because Danny failed a drug test last week."

Get your facts straight, woman.

Shock and worry flashes over Harriet's face, because Danny's one of her best friends, and this... is very out of character for him. She walks over quickly and pulls up a chair across the table from Matt, because this doesn't seem like a conversation they should be having across the room from each other.

"Lower your voice, please. There are people here. Matt, why didn't you tell me?"

She assumes, of course, that Matt knew. Matt knows everything about Danny.

And coming in right behind her is a big guy with claws.

He stops right before he barrels into her. Now that's reflexes for you.

"Sorry," Logan says, gruffly. Voice strained as he tries to keep his hands out of view while he retracts the claws. "Shit. This place knows how ta sneak up on ya.

Harriet turns around when she hears his voice - she hadn't even heard him coming up behind her. Yes, this is very strange. And very impressive on Tom and Simon's part, because while this prank is completely incomprehensible and ill-timed, the scale of it is beyond anything they've ever done before.

"Never mind this place, where did you come from? I just came out of my dressing room!"

Logan raises an eyebrow at her and folds his arms over his chest.

"Bar in Canada."

He's either not getting or not bothering to get the whole new to the Inn... thing.

Logan is just not made to be a welcoming crew.

It's just as well, because Harriet probably wouldn't believe him anyway.

She just stares up at him with a bemused expression for a second, and then asks, "Please explain to me how this is supposed to be funny?"
