Fiona has been busy. With New Year's being so close, she has been scrambling to get her Explosive Device ready in time. She has taken time for the occasional shower and sandwhich, but that's it ( Read more... )

Jack, as usual (well, when he doesn't feel like a dramatic entrance), approaches silently, leaning over her shoulder to look at the list.

"This looks very complicated and possibly dangerous." There's a pause as he pulls up a chair next to her. "Can I help?"

Fiona doesn't blink, though she might have tensed a bit until she realized who was behind her. "I'd love your help. I'm not sure if this is going to have a big enough explosion."

Since that is, of course, the worrisome part about the whole thing.

He considers. "Well, how big are we looking at? I know of some explosives you probably don't have access to" - mostly because they haven't been invented yet in her time - "so if we need to, I could add those in..."

"The bigger the better," Fiona grins at him. "It's not a proper explosion unless everyone can hear it. Or see it." Or feel it.

"Those explosives of yours might do the trick... what do you have?"

"Well, not on me right now, but I imagine I could get it, here. Vionesium, lots of light and noise, not a lot of much else... Vastial, which will spontaneously combust at fifteen degrees... oh, and anything you can imagine from either World War."

"You do know the way to a girl's heart," Fiona says. She's already reworking some of the formula calculations in her head, to make room for the new additions.

Jack smirks a little. "Always." The scary thing is, it's true.

"Mmm." Fiona turns her head to glance at him, a smirk of her own on her lips. "You know, if I had a dollar for everytime I heard that, I'd have my own island." Until she, you know, got bored and decided to blow it up.

A grin flashes over his face. "But in my case, it's absolutely true. Or if it's not, you could at least humor me so I give you your explosives."

He's fine with that too.

He really does have a handsome grin. Fiona's trying hard to not let that distract her from the explosives. It's not entirely working.

"I've heard that one, too." She grins, leaning just a bit closer. "But I suppose I can cut you a break. This once."

"I appreciate it." Jack knows his grin's distracting. He's not at all sorry. "So. Where is this explosion going to be?"

Explosion. Right. The one Fiona's been months planning. "I was thinking outside, in the front. I'm not sure enough people will see if it goes off in the back."

"Sounds good." He grins and glances at the plans again. "You know, I never bothered with elaborate schemes like this. Much easier to just arrange for a German bomb to fall on something during World War II. Or Pompeii, that's always fun, as long as you remember to leave before volcano day."

Fiona raises an eyebrow. She knows that time behaving properly in this place is more of a guideline then any actual rule, but still. "That happens to you?"

"Oh, yeah. I used to be a Time Agent, which means I got one of these." He holds up his wrist to show off the leather band strapped around it. "Vortex manipulator, means I can hop from one place to another in space and time."

He frowns at it momentarily. "Broken now, but still."

Fiona examines the band, lightly touching his wrist as she does so. "How do you get a job like that?"
