Angua stalks into the Inn and slams the door behind her - not terribly violently, but just enough to make it clear she's not having the best of days. She walks right through the Inn proper to the back door, yanks it open as well, and steps outside, taking a deep breath in the open air. Fresh air - and a little space - are just what she needs. If ( Read more... )

Here Jason, have a Captain Shakespeare.

The Captain stands next to the table, in full pirate Captain garb.

"Darling, you look far too frustrated for your own good. Really. You're messing up that pretty face of yours. Here." He thinks up tea in cups for them both, and pushes the crumpled papers to the side of the table with a tiny smirk. "Relax."

Jason looks up at him, blinking in surprise. He's not used to being approached by pirates who call him darling. But then, most people aren't.

"Uh..." he says, very eloquently. He's just not sure how else to respond to that.

"Augh! I'm an absolute klutz, I tell you, but running around acting all bloodthirsty and pirate-like all day tends to make you forget your manners! Forgive me, I am Captain Shakespeare."

The Captain bows low, and then takes a seat across from him, gently pressing the cup of tea toward him.

"Go ahead, take a drink." He smiles a little. "It will he-e-elp."

Yes, help was said in a sing-songy matter. What of it?

Everyone in this place seems to be convinced of the power of tea to fix everything. Jason, personally, isn't sold on that, but if it'll placate the madman, he'll drink it.

"I'm Jason..." he says, and sips cautiously at the tea.

"Pleasure to meet you, Jason."

He gives a satisfied smile at the sight of the pretty-faced boy drinking his tea.

The Captain takes more of a gulp from his own cup. The transition from scary pirate to himself is sometimes rough. He clears his throat.

"Have you been at the Inn long? Isn't it delightful, really? Quaint and homey. Not bad at all."

Jason frowns into his cup, his eyes flickering briefly up at Captain Shakespeare before returning to the tea again. "A couple months. I guess it's okay. It'd probably be better if I could leave."

"Really? Has the Inn locked you inside?" His tone is rather conversational, and although he notices the frown, the only indication that he notices it comes with the serious look that's now on his face.

"Sort of. The door's not there, and hasn't been since I got here."

He glances over to the place where everyone else seems to find the door - still nothing there. Just as he expected, and he's not particularly surprised to see it hasn't changed.

"I mean, I understand why. It's just annoying. And I don't have much to do here."

"Odd." The Captain says and looks toward the Inn's door, which is very much there for him. "Maybe there is something that you have to do before the Inn can allow you to leave. Maybe you have to come to an understanding about yourself, find some great truth. The Inn seems to force introspective moments like that on you."

Jason laughs softly, and a little bitterly. "I think it's probably more so that I don't freak out everyone back home who knows I'm dead. Or maybe so my dad doesn't kill me again if I go back..."

"Well if you're dead of course you couldn't go back to your world, but that shouldn't stop you from going to someone else's!" The Captain proclaims with a wave of his fist before he presses it against his chest. No, it doesn't startle him to talk to someone who's been dead, there are plenty of those running around the Inn. He'd always thought of death as merely a beginning anyway.

"Tough dad, hmm?" The Captain can relate to a certain extent. "They are the worst." He says, with a heavy sigh. "But I think it much more likely for him to have a heart attack at the sight of a living dead man."

"I guess that's true," Jason says, with a faint smile - though still a little bitter. "I don't even really know if I want to go back. I mean, everyone back there probably hates me anyway... except my sister, and a couple of my friends..." But Peter and Ivy are in the Inn, and Nadia's his twin sister, so... she doesn't really count on the hate front. "And I don't really have anywhere else to go."

Jason? Not the friendliest of people since he got in the Inn. He mostly tends to keep to himself.

"Why should they hate you? Your dead that's when everyone starts loving you."

Captain Shakespeare raises an eyebrow at him, tilts his head to the side, and takes a long sip that finishes of the tea in his cup.

"You could go with me! On my sky ship. We enjoy having guests, but you'll have to forgive in advance, my tendency for the bloodthirsty and scary. It's all a necessary part of keeping up appearances. Can't risk a ruined reputation."

"I killed myself. And..." Well, there is the whole gay thing, which most of the people he knew when he was alive certainly didn't approve of.

He frowns a little, looking at the captain with a very baffled expression. "Your what?"

"People tend to still love you even if you've killed yourself. Take Romeo and Juliet, for instance, we do not have the story in my world, but I read it here and met Juliet. No one hated Romeo or Juliet, they only hated themselves!"

The Captain thinks up more tea. He doesn't get to drink very much of it with others, because it's not exactly considered a tough-pirate drink.

"My sky ship." He blinks. "What? Is there something on my face? Tell me, darling, don't leave me sitting here unaware!"

"Yeah, well, Juliet's... different." He likes Juliet. He's not so sure about himself.

Jason's still looking skeptical and uncertain about the sky ship thing. "What's a sky ship?" he asks at last, not sure that he wants to know. Even as long as he's been in the Inn, he still gets a little baffled by people from worlds so unlike his own.
