Angua stalks into the Inn and slams the door behind her - not terribly violently, but just enough to make it clear she's not having the best of days. She walks right through the Inn proper to the back door, yanks it open as well, and steps outside, taking a deep breath in the open air. Fresh air - and a little space - are just what she needs. If ( Read more... )

The Doctor was seated in a way that he was able to survey as much as the inn as possible, although in his opinion there really wasn't too much to watch right then. Instead he'd taken to tuning up his sonic screwdriver just a little until something interesting caught his eye.

And then Angua came in.

He arches a brow and rises to his feet, shoving everything in his pocket and following as she moves outside.

"Not having a good day," he asks, leaning against the door and giving her space just in case she wasn't up for closer contact.

Angua glances back over her shoulder, though she doesn't need to - she can recognize the Doctor well enough by his scent, which is much improved (for her own sanity, at least) with the absence of blood.

"Yes. You could definitely say that."

"Can I pry or would it be best to just pretend I never saw anything?"

Cause y'know, he's just sooo good at that.

She takes a breath, frustrated, and then shakes her head. "It's fine. It's really fine. I'm just..."

She glances up at the sky, and then back down at the Doctor. "Do I look like I'm going to eat anyone?"

He takes a moment to study her before shaking his head. "Not particularly and if you were, you're doing a wonderful job at hiding it."

"Does someone think you're going to eat them?"

"Apparently, yes. I can't think of any other reason they'd have taken to carrying around bits of silver on their person, just in case." She sighs and whirls around, starting to pace a little. Working out a little energy will at least keep her from snarling at people, hopefully.

He offers her a sympathetic look. "Sorry about that, really I am. I wouldn't get that upset about it though, if they don't want you around just don't grace them with your presence. They'll be the ones missing out, not you."

She spins around, turning to pace back toward him, and gives him a tight smile. "That would be easier if I didn't work with most of them. Really, they ought to know better." Like she hasn't saved quite a few of their skins by now - as a werewolf, no less.

"Ah, that is problematic."

sinking to the ground, he stretches his legs out in front of him,, although shifting just a bit so he can be out of her pacing space.

"Do you really need them? I mean yes, they're co-workers but do you really use them or is it perhaps the other way around?"

"Need?" She frowns a little, considering that. "Not as such, no."

Even if the Watch did operate in pairs, most of the time she was with Carrot - and the times she worked with anyone else, usually it was just because Carrot wasn't available. The trouble with it was at the watch house, when there was no way to avoid coming in contact with the other guardsmen, some of them who weren't exactly thrilled to have a werewolf in the Watch. Even - or especially - one who had seniority over them.

He nods, "Well at least there's that."

He's crossed his arms behind his head and let his eyes slide shut, enjoying the feel of being outside and not running around and trying not to get killed/jailed/anything else unpleasant. Yeah, very different from Angua's current state.

"Why not just give them what they want," he questions after a moment. "Let them see what it's like without you. Maybe when something is really about to eat them, they'll change their tune about you."

She chuckles a little, somewhat amused by the idea. Oh, how she wishes she could actually get away with that.

"I'd try it, but Carrot would be so disappointed in me." And no one wants to disappoint Carrot. Ever. It would just be... cruel.

"But you're making a point. This is besides the fact that you could come right in if they were really in trouble." A mischievous smile sneaks onto his face. "Just let them wonder a bit before you do so."

Angua tilts her head to one side, eying him. "You're a little mercenary, you know."

And then she grins, flashing her teeth. "I think I like it."

He laughs, leaning forward and crossing his legs. "Well, I can't always be smilies and jelly babies, can I? That would just get dull."

"So you occasionally become ruthless and mercenary for fun? Of course. Doesn't everyone?"

Not that she minds. She actually kind of likes it. It's a break from the constant selflessness of Carrot, and the constant... whatever else it is of everyone else in Ankh-Morpork.
