I can't... I don't... I really can't put into any concrete terms the emotions that passed through me when Super Show 3 finally hit Manila. I was a bit of an emotional wreck when I had to write my fan account for
Fangirldiaries. It was tough. I have been hit by my worst concert withdrawal yet.
Funny how it seems like I've been going to these things for ages when it just actually started last year with a string of concerts and fanmeets--from 4Minute, F.T Island, Super Junior, K-Pop meets P-Pop with SS501's Kim Hyun Joong & B2ST, and the recent one before SS3 SS501's Kyujong & Youngsaeng's fanmeet. I feel like a veteran somehow but nothing prepared me for what happened on that Saturday.
Maybe it was the amount of people there. Araneta was definitely more packed with people this time around and the excitement of the new fangirls (a lot of young ones!) stoked for their first Super Show experience. The air was electrifying and fascinating for me.
I was hit rather late with excitement for SS3. Think late that week of the con and just the day of the concert itself. We bought our tickets around December and I just pushed it into the back of my mind as reality sort of decided to devour me alive. But when the reality of seeing Super Junior again sunk in and I was hit hard. I was happy, excited, frustrated (because I really still want to be in the Lower Box sections!), and just one big anxious bundle of energy. I was ready but I didn't want this to end.
However, my friend Meg and I still managed to watch I Am Number Four on concert day. We we're in the reserved seating area so we didn't worry about not getting good seats at the venue. Getting sidetracked but that movie is awesome actually. I really enjoyed it.
At around five, we found ourselves ushered into Araneta and spent a good two hours in our seats just brewing in our own excitement. I could tell Meg was as antsy as I was... this was it.

And then I heard his glorious, glorious voice yet again and found myself in what can only be described as complete and utter state of joy. He still sounds as heavenly as he did last year, maybe even more better and controlled now. It took all my self-control to avoid spazzing out completely during his performance. I wanted this video for posterity. However, I think there are parts where you can hear me dying in the background.
Somehow I felt like I was the only Kyu stan in our section. Or perhaps I was the more rabid one. I was in full fangirl gear that day. See? :D
But that banner I only got from
dwenjangchigae when we met up after the concert. She was part of the official delegation from the Korean embassy so we were seated apart.
I have so many favorite moments from that concert but the two I have to mention first are both solos. First was Henry's adorable and awesome rendition of Baby and then there was Yesung's It Has To Be You perf.
I am not a Justin Bieber fan. I'm rather apathetic towards the boy but that did not stop me from enjoying Henry's performance. I was like a proud mother or something. Yes, I have this instinct to mother Mochi every time I see him.

And then
YESUNG's SOLO... man, that still gives me goosebumps. I know it is his thing to have fans sing along with him during his solo but the response from the Manila crowd was amazing. We were just all singing along with him.
Right now I'm actually still finishing uploading my fancams for
Fangirldiaries but I'll be posting those, plus my spazzy clips (like random Kyu fancams and stuff) that really should not be for public consumption at my
YouTube channel.
I really appreciated how hyper Heechul was that night. He had his usual diva on attitude the year before but this time around despite his
sickness was dancing around, signing autographs, reading the fan signs, and giving tons of fan service.
Lady Hee has to be seen live, seriously.
I got to hear some of my favorite songs from the new album live like In My Dream (spazzed hard when I heard the opening chords), Shake It Up, Ryeowook's solo One Fine Spring Day, and of course, Bonamana is amazing live.
Of course the "classics" were there too like A Man In Love, Don't Don, Sorry Sorry, U... and OMG I finally got to hear Super Girl live! While not exactly the reality I wanted (Geng not being there), it was just way beyond awesome!
Most of the
song list of SS3 was used with a few minor changes like Kyuhyun singing New Endless Love, Sungmin doing Fallin' Out by himself instead of with Leeteuk, Heechul did not perform The Way Of Idol's Breaking Up, Shindong didn't sing Champion, no Coagulation, as well as no Way For Love and You Are The One. But I don't feel like we missed out on anything. Personally, I still want to hear 7 Years' Love Kyu. You better make that happen.
The pyrotechnics were amazing. In terms of showmanship, SS3 surpasses SS2 so much. The boys were being hoisted up harnesses, sort of flying off to the sides, popping up from places (well they did those before). I still think nothing beats the special effects at Arashi concerts but SS3 was world class standard already. For a three-hour concert, I think everyone got their money's worth.
I can ramble on and on about this and this entry won't probably see the light of day. I have my photos
HERE if you'd like to take a look at them. I was only taking shots during parts where I wasn't taking fancams, thus the scarcity of photos.
I almost forgot this but one
SPECIAL PART that turned a lot of Pinays into Henry fans (well as if his solo wasn't enough) was his proclamation at the end of the concert that pretty much summed up the entire SS3 experience.
