He nodded at Harry to just let them run the tests. He wasn't sure that the healers would make the connection with getting sick in the morning with morning sickness as a woman would have, but he decided to just trust in Harry. Maybe if they didn't get an answer that seemed to address all of it, they could ask then.

Draco pressed his lips together as a healer walked in. She had long, curly blonde hair and was just this side of plump. Sitting up, Draco allowed her to scan him with her wand after he explained how sick he felt in the morning. She tapped his sinuses and then leaned in to listen to him breathe.

"Have you... bought anything new that you use in bed?" she asked.

Draco blushed and cleared his throat. "What are you implying?"

She blushed too and shook her head. "Erm... not what I meant..."

Now Draco was mortified, but sniffed and tilted his head up. "Well you should've been more specific, shouldn't you have?" he snapped.

"I meant... like new bedding? Sheets? Duvet? Pillows?"

Blinking slowly, Draco nodded. "We bought new pillows...."

"What kind?" she asked as she started to make notes on a pad.

"Feather... ostrich, I think?" he asked, looking at Harry again.

"You should try sleeping without them. You're probably allergic. By morning, the exposure is likely making you ill. The pressure is probably causing you migraines, which are making you vomit. You've an infection now, since your sinuses have been clogged so much. I'll have a potion sent in that will clear that right up and you should be right as rain!" she said far too perkily.

"Sinus? Infection? Migraine?" Draco looked a little lost and looked over at Harry, not sure what to say. He was surprised at how wet his eyes suddenly were, but surely that was just... allergies.

Harry stared open mouthed at the Healer as she briskly declared Draco allergic to their new pillows. He couldn't speak; he couldn't think of anything to say at all. He could only see little Lyra Malfoy Potter turn from reality back in to a far away dream. He clutched at Draco's hand, determined to stay steady and strong.

He knew that he was tearing up, and it looked like Draco might even be too. They must have gotten their hopes up even more than he realized, but it had just seemed so... real. And he couldn't believe it had all been a trick of the world because they had splurged and bought new pillows. He wondered why everything always came back to bedrooms and sleeping, and he found himself vowing never to buy new bedding without making sure it was safe.

It had to be safe in a way that it wouldn't get his hopes up like this had. "It's okay," Harry said, squeezing Draco's hand. "A sinus infection. You're going to be fine. You just reacted badly to the pillows. Basically just a cold," he repeated, and he could barely hear his voice as though he was speaking from a great distance.

Staring at Draco, he found himself clinging to him as he waited for the Healer to leave the room. Once she was finally gone, he moved forward so fast that he almost fell over. Wrapping his arms around Draco, he buried his head in his shoulder, telling himself over and over again not to cry. He just kept whispering, "Everything's fine," but he wasn't sure who he was trying to convince.

The healer wasn't sure what to say, looking at the two men as if they were insane. She had no idea what they were hoping for, but an easy-to-clear sinus infection was pretty good. She started to reiterate that he'd be fine, but Harry was already repeating it, although he seemed oddly depressed as well.

Deciding that they looked like they needed a moment alone and perhaps that they were relieved and just strange about showing it, she headed out, shutting the door behind her to give the orders to send a potion to the room to make Draco better.

Draco buried his face against Harry's neck, his heart racing even more wildly than before. It was so silly and so incredibly obvious in retrospect, but he'd somehow gotten his heart set on it. Worse yet, he felt as if he'd let Harry down. He squeezed his hands into the back of Harry's shirt. He was relieved, and yet... not. He didn't know how he felt, other than somehow incredibly sad. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Harry. I'm sorry."

"Shh," Harry whispered, running his fingers through Draco's hair in an attempt to soothe them both. He couldn't let go of Draco or do anything besides murmur soothing words that didn't seem to be helping either of them.

"We're going to be fine. It's going to be fine. One day... just not now." He felt like his throat was closing in on him, and he just clung to Draco as though he would lose everything if he let go. "Shh. It's not your fault. You don't need to be sorry. It's nobody's fault."

Even as he said that, he started to feel like it was his own fault. He had gotten their hopes up; he had bought the book on baby names. "I shouldn't have expected it to be this... it was such a wild idea, and I don't know why I convinced myself and then you that this was what it had to be. I'm sorry."

Clinging as tightly as he could, he kissed the side of Draco's eyes, feeling the slight wetness. "I love you. I love you, and we're going to be fine. I promise." He just didn't know how long it would take before they recovered from such a harsh crushing of their dream.

"I started it. I thought... it might be... and I was so scared and... and I have school anyway and you have your dogs and..." and now that all sounded so silly and stupid, like he was going back to living a dull life somehow. Something sad and bereft of an impish little girl to run around and cause messes and beg for hugs and....

He squeezed his eyes shut, determined he wasn't going to get any more upset about this. He had his school, and yes, dogs for Harry. He pulled away and wiped his eyes, trying to laugh through it. "Well, I'm not going to miss getting sick each morning. And... and I won't get fat. That's good, right?"

He nodded to himself, completely unable to look Harry in the eye. "I love you, too. I love you so much. And... and it'll be better later. We'll be more ready and we won't be so young and..." He exhaled again and wiped his eyes yet again.

"Sorry, the allergies, you know?" he said, not wanting Harry to think he was actually crying over this. "It was a wild idea, wasn't it?"

"We both were. It was scary but amazing and it would have been incredible, but it is better this way. We're so young and not ready for children, and Lyra will be ours one day. Just not now. Now's not right, but one day... She has to be," he said, suddenly fierce, even though he knew he was nonsensical and babbling.

"I'm glad you'll be better. I was so worried about you," Harry admitted, attempting to pull Draco even closer though that wasn't really possible. "I don't care if you're thin or fat because I love you no matter what. But I suppose that is a positive way to look at it," he said, attempting to force a smile on to his face and failing miserably.

He bit his lip, and rubbed at his eyes as Draco did the same. "Right. Allergies." He agreed, not even bothering to think up an excuse for why his eyes were watering so much that he looked rather like someone who was crying. "It really was." A shaky laugh came out of his mouth, and it hurt but it was better than crying, and he started to get a bit worried that he was a little hysterical.

Tilting Draco's face towards his, he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. He just needed to reassure himself that neither of them was going any where. "It will be better when we're ready. I guess it just wasn't meant to happen right now." He took a deep breath and attempted a smile for Draco's sake. "Let's concentrate on trying to get you well," he said, cursing himself for his still shaking voice.

"Yeah, we're young and not ready for children," he agreed. But deep down, he'd started to wonder if he were ready. He supposed he was just forcing himself to be ready, which was fair enough, as he just wasn't going to end the pregnancy. Deciding to do it now, though... that would be crazy and reckless.

He pulled Harry back just as close, wanting to feel him, and to comfort him just as Harry was trying to do for him. He really was sorry now that he'd dragged them down this crazy train of thought. "We'll have her later. We will. We'll be so ready for her when she comes, won't we? I could... I could find out from Snape how, and we could plan. Maybe... maybe sooner than... before. After I finish school?"

He nuzzled Harry's face and scattered kisses over it. "We will have her, and we'll do it... we'll make it safe and less... sickness inducing. We'll do it right and we won't have to worry so much, right?"

He was still clinging to Harry when a potion drifted through the door and sat itself down next to Draco. He looked down at it sadly, as if somehow this would really end it all. But it wasn't the sickness he was gong to miss, naturally. It was the possibilities that it had inspired. "I guess... it's time to fix me."

"Yeah," Harry said, feeling like his voice was just an echo of Draco's words. He knew on a rational level that they were too young, but he didn't want to admit it.

"You're right. We'll be able to take better care of her, and she deserves the best." He smiled sadly in to Draco's hair, but this wasn't the end. One day, they would have their little girl to run rampant around the house.

"Right," Harry said again, dreamily imagining them a few years older with baby Lyra in their arms. "We can wait a while. It's all right that it isn't now... because one day, it can be." He kissed Draco's cheek, starting to calm down a little, but still unable to ease the sadness that had welled inside of him.

"It's really going to make everything better, isn't it?" Harry asked, thinking that this potion would truly end their dreams. But... as Draco had pointed out, their dreams weren't over, just somewhat delayed. "You should drink it... and then we can go home and curl up together, without the feather pillows."

"Yeah, I guess it will make everything better," he said, looking a bit sad about it. "I won't miss the morning vomiting."

He gazed at Harry for a moment and then picked up the blue potion and swigged it down, feeling the warm burn of it. It tasted all warm and minty, like drinking menthol. It burned in his stomach, but he started to find himself breathing easier. He didn't even realize he was having such an issue breathing. He supposed with all of the nausea from the infected mucus dripping down the back of his throat and upsetting his stomach, he missed it.

At first, his stomach twisted and burned, and then it started to settle and feel better as well. And somehow, even with how good he felt physically, he couldn't help but be terribly depressed that just like that, it was over. He leaned against Harry, pressing his forehead to his shoulder as he hopped off of the table. "I want to go home and snuggle."

"It will be good for you to sleep through the night again, that's for sure." Harry said, running his fingers through Draco's hair again. It's what he always did automatically to calm either of them down, and it usually helped. It wasn't much help right now, but the repetition kept his mind focused on other things.

Harry watched Draco carefully as he swallowed the potion, hoping that it didn't do more harm than good. He had a fleeting notion to grab it out of Draco's hand, afraid that it would harm Lyra. He had to take several deep breaths and remind himself that Draco was not pregnant.

"How do you feel?" he asked, knowing that how anxious he was came straight through in his voice. "Me too. Do you need the Healer for anything else or can we just leave?" He pressed Draco tightly against him, still aching for his comfort.

"I feel a lot better, actually." He sighed with relief to not feel so horrid anymore. Now he just had the let down of not having a baby to think of. It was a relief in some ways, but he couldn't help the knot in his stomach that this was a huge loss. He cursed himself for getting his hopes up over something so unlikely.

Reaching behind him, he grabbed his wand and charmed his clothes back on, leaving the robes folded neatly on the table. He slipped his arm down around Harry's waist. "I think we can just go. They'll bill us. It's not like they don't know who we are, right?"

He kissed Harry tenderly, just wanting to feel him and taste him again before they went out to face their house. He walked out with Harry, pulling him along till they went to the Apparation point in the emergency ward and took them back home.

Severus snake peeked out at them from the bushes, a large lump just behind his head. At least someone was happy. He flicked his tongue out at them and Draco turned his face against Harry's neck as they headed inside. "I love you," he whispered as the door closed behind them.

"Good," Harry said, truly glad that Draco would be well again. If it meant that there was no baby, well, it was worth it for Draco to get back to his best health. If his hands shook a little where they were settled around Draco, neither of them mentioned it.

"Mmmm, that's true." Leaning in to Draco's kiss, he felt himself start to relax a little, not realizing that he had been so tense. He glanced around the hospital room, one more time before they left. Somehow, he felt he needed to remember this room because it had both given him back Draco's health and taken away his wild dream.

Harry kept one arm wrapped around Draco and squeezed his hand with the other. This was something they would have to work through, but at least they would always have each other to lean on. He turned his head slightly to press a kiss to Draco's forehead, nodding at the snake as they moved inside. "I love you too." He brushed a piece of hair out of Draco's face and simply held him. Everything was going to be all right; it had to be.
