It was Saturday. Thank God Montague thought to himself as he sat on the couch in his living room with his feet up. There was nothing that he had to do today and nowhere that he had to go. His week had started off well. He had gotten an owl from Jack about the possibility of starting up a new pro Quidditch team and the thought of it had him really exited. Montague had been reading up on the rules of the league and trying to think of who to contact about the extra information that he needed. Despite himself he had been really looking forward ot the Slytherin get together he had tried to put together. Few people had responded and fewer had shown up. Warrington had come, only because that is what best mates did, but Montague had had to tell him to leave when Theodore had shown up. Montague was not sure what the deal was there, it had apparently had something to do with the girl Cam was interested in who was Theodore's ex.
Just as Montague had gone over to greet Theodore and Terrence, Miles had given him a message that had been brought by owl. The message was from his mother. The initial shock had been great. He had not seen his family in years and had only heard from them once in that period of time. The owl was from his mother and contained no good news. She was dying. She has been sick ever since he was about 12, but she had apparently taken a turn for the worse. He had gone to see her at the house when he was sure that his father would not be home. Montague had managed to get in and speak to his mother and get out without anyone seeing him. He did not want to be in the house, but he wanted his father to know that he was there even less.
By the time that he had arrived back at the club it was empty. Theodore had left his card and Miles was muttering something about the state of the mens room, but Montague did not really want to know. He would have to owl the two of them and apologize for skivving off. Right now though he just wanted to think, and someone to talk to. He wished Alicia was around.
Montague had not had the chance to actually speak more than a few passing words to his flatmate in days. He felt bad about it, but he knew that they were both busy and that neither one of them could really help it. Still...
