I read that. [He pauses as he thinks. He'd been wary about the possibility of going to the desert because he was really unfamiliar with it. That's never stopped him from going places before, but he knew better than to walk around unknown places unprepared.]

I've never been in a desert before. Is it hard to go there?

Yep. It takes more than a day to even get there, and that's straight through. The mountains would take longer.
