His hand was unsteady from caffeine and stress. The page was still blank.
A widow, a president, and two sets of hands were pulling his mind in a million directions. The neon sign in the bar window was turned off, and he was very conscious of the sand between his toes.
He wanted more. He needed more. But in the end, he’d never overcome his inability to see the whole board, beyond that perfect line where the ocean ends and the sky begins.
