Winter

I love it when the winter season hits.

When the winds blow, and the sky cools down.

When it feels like the Earth itself exhales, and releases the heavy, thick weight of the stifling summer heat.  It flows up and away, leaving the air clear and sparkling.  Lighter than before.  Something I can walk through without wading.  There's no more trudging through the thick, pudding like mugginess.  My steps feel lighter, my skin tingles and crackles with a new energy.  Like stepping off of a giant, sticky bug trap and onto slick, smooth ground.

The Winter Sun's rays seem delicate, crisp, and blue.  The oppressive weight of the summertime heat, constantly battering at my eyes and beating on my head is lifted, and I can finally enjoy this gentler touch.  Not so damn insistent, not so fucking intrusive.

I feel ALIVE with this season.
I feel like my lungs can function.

I love ear muffs, and scarves in beautiful colors.  My gloves fitting tightly over my hands, I have to flex them to loosen the leather around my knuckles.  I love gripping the steering wheel with gloves on.  There's something exciting about the feeling, I really don't know why.

I love the snow falling at night time, and leaving the house to go for a stroll.  Seeing the flakes fall, bright orange in the streetlight.  A cascade of glittering embers, flying loose from the forge.  I can feel the gods in this weather.  At least the ones that call to me.

I'm so glad it's beginning.
