"Lanky lizards!"
Weetzie couldn't believe her eyes when she and Slinkster Dog entered the pool area. She was decked out in the best retro swimwear she could find: a polka-dotted red bikini that Esther Williams could have worn. She wore a flower in her spit-curled blond hair, too, just like Esther, and perfect red lipstick and a bracelet with

He's found some floral board shorts and paired them with a short-sleeved button-down shirt. His hair's been allowed free rein, so it looks almost wind-tousled. Though that's its natural state, it fits the theme. He even managed to find a bracelet made of wooden beads carved with designs that look vaguely Polynesian. He'd fit in easily on the beaches of his teens, save only the thin chain around his neck that holds his dog-tags.
He looks around with a grin when he steps into the pool area. Yeah. This looks much more his style than last time. And the first order of business, he thinks, will be to find a drink.

"Hi, John!" she greeted him as she approached, Slink at her side. "Lookin' good! How's it going?"

"Good," he says, and claims himself a beer from the bar. "This all, uh, looks good. More my type of thing than the last one."
Hell, when he was a lot younger, he used to spend most of his spare time at the beach and tropical paradises have always been his favorite places to go on vacation. Tiki masks and paper flowers and other beach-related things are just right for party decorations as far as he's concerned.

"Well, I hope you have fun. Obviously, you've got the food and drinks right here, and the pool if you want to swim, and there'll be dancing later.
"Oh, and I almost forgot!" Grinning, Weetzie removed her lei and put it around his neck. "The perfect finishing touch!"

"Leis. Neat."
Well, what's to complain about? All this food and drink and pretty girl draping fake flowers around his neck. The half-smile that's rarely far from his face blossoms into an outright grin as he peers around. Yeah, this is more his scene. And the food that's on offer looks a lot closer to the sort of Earth food he's familiar with than some of the stuff they have here.
"Just like being back in California."
Most days, he'd say that's not such a great thing. He's not much of a one for nostalgia, and he knows well where his home is.
But a little taste of Earth is still nice, once in a while. So long as the prospect of Atlantis remains.

She wanted the party to have some of the things she remembered from when she was a kid - her mom's weird idea of gourmet housewife cooking, movies with Frankie and Annette, with a little bit of Beverly Hills Hotel glam thrown in.
"I mean, things aren't perfect back home," she added, "but it's nice to show people some of the good stuff about it, you know?"

But he is curious about people. He was the one who made friends with the Athosians first, after all, by showing interest in them and who they were and what they cared about, not just military objectives like the others.
You could even say cultural exchange is his job now.
"Gotta show people how we party on Earth, right?"

She looked around happily. This was exactly the way she would have done it. If only Dirk and Grandma Fifi were here.
"So, listen, do you mind if I leave you here near the food and stuff for a while?" she asked then. "Since I'm kind of helping throw this party, I should probably go around and say hi to people."

There's some undeniable luxuries here that just aren't to be found in Pegasus, or at least, not on Atlantis. The swimming pool is one of them. He'd happily trade away the perks of this place in return for being back on Atlantis. But ... well, why not enjoy them while he can, right?
"I'll catch you later."
Right now, he thinks it might be time to check out the buffet.
