There are moments where memories come through so clearly. Memories not his own. They belong to another man who he once was. Tenrinoh. Creator of the magic he uses and a master swordsman.

Looking out the window, he feels the memories surface. They do this sometimes. Rise up so he recalls them for awhile then fade away again. He’s grown used to it. Perhaps it’s a coping mechanism since he hasn’t been able to see his brother and his friends in awhile. He probably could go through that portal again if he wished to. However, he wants to stay here and make sure things are alright.

Time is frozen in his world.

He pushes some hair from his face and moves away to head back towards his room. Another memory has surfaced.

A feeling of calm. Wind moving his long hair. The slice of a sword. The chill it brings to the surface. No one around to witness the act. It’s a memory that he sees often. Most often when he finds himself so lost in thought that time just fades away and it truly is just him.

It’s the only time he doesn’t feel so alone.

Smiling, he shakes his head. His brother is safe. That’s all that matters in the end to him…
