So Charley hit the area pretty hard, but not as bad as my folks, who got a front-row seat in Punta Gorda. Our house, amazingly enough, is only slightly damaged. I heard many horror stories about friends of my parents who lost everything. I can't even begin to comprehend that. My family has lived in Englewood for 20 years, and some spots of the town were unrecognizable to them.
Mary, did y'all survive?
On other subjects: My internet is still down 10 days later, and I'm updating through my roommate's computer, which is 10 feet away. Why my internet is not up, I don't know. Really starting to tick me off. I bit my tongue as I realized that millions were without power initially, but as that number is down to negligable, I now question our new internet company at the apartments, who started just as Charley was bearing down on Orlando. Here's something to explore, guys: Internet access.
Internet access. Now there's a concept. The four of us at the apartment are going with Roadrunner now thanks to what's been going on.
I found out that I can't play Curtis anymore in NCAA Football 2005, because he keeps winning. As many of you know, I hate losing, especially when I go in with a sound strategy, as I do in all endeavours. In this game, knowing that Curtis is a one-dimensional offense (long passes, and nothing else), I set out an all passing defense. The results were that my vaunted defense gave up only 550 yards in the air and six touchdown passes. And this was a 5 star defense I was using. What was a 21-7 lead became a 39-28 embarassment. I'm of the same line of reasoning as John Forbes Nash, and that if you enter with a good strategy and keep with it, you should... oh, I don't know... win the fucking ballgame. And if my receivers learned the ancient art of catching the ball, maybe we'd get somewhere, and maybe we could injure Curtis' WR, who caught in quadruple coverage. Makes me sick. The fact that I can't score 13000 in trivia at the bar is also pissing me off. It's the same script everytime: wonderful forst two rounds, unacceptably shitty third round. Fuck whoever invented the concept of games and competition. Couldn't leave humanity well enough alone.
Well, just wanted to see how everyone else is doing. Have work in the morning.
