How a random action triggers a huge portion of memories

Brains are amazing sometimes.

So I started watching the Spanish horror movie Verónica, a random action born from me wanting something to watch while otherwise occupied, and Netflix thought I might be interested. For some reason I kept watching, despite it being Spanish craved more of my attention than originally intended.

And somehow the rock band the main character kept listening to sounded familiar to me. Not the songs so far but the voice. Reminded me of a song that I used to listen to a lot in my teenage years, when I was being engulfed by my mom's rock LPs and her tapes. Listened to them up and down and up and down.

And there was this one Spanish song on one.

The more I searched my brain the more details of the song came to mind. Nothing of the lyrics, as I had absolutely no knowledge of the language back then, but the rhythm and the melody. And the memory of how much I loved it.

Google please help?

"Verónica 2017 soundtrack"
Nope.
"Famous Spanish bands of the 80s"
Nope, just a lot of romantic songs, pop stuff and kitsch. Realised the movie was set in '91.
"Internationally famous Spanish rock bands of the 90s"
First hit.

Héroes del silencio, entre dos tierras.

THIS FEELS SO GOOD
I STILL LOVE THIS SONG AAAAAHHH

It's the only song by then I am familiar with though, so I kept listening to them. And after about twenty minutes, the song came up that Verónica was listening to under her blankets.
It was indeed that band.

My brain had remembered his voice in, what, more than 15 years.

Which then reminded me of this obscure other band that used to be on the tapes. I didn't remember anything specific, other than "might be Spanish might actually not be Spanish, could be 3 or 4 guys, singer has a longing kind of voice, very specific."

Kudos to mom: Nuclear Valdez was their name!
