Ok... there's something I have to share with you guys. I can't help it, it makes me squee.
OH HAI CUCUMBER!!!
OK so this all on my terrace, which is kind of neat.
these are my largest tomatos.... they have taken quite some time to bear fruit, despite the plants being approximately as tall as I am.
As you can see here. Also, aren't the cucumbers just the COOLEST thing ever?!!? look at their little squiggly bits that reach out and grab at stuff!!! Seriously, I think this is why they say "cool as a cucumber"--LOOK AT HOW COOL THEY ARE!!!
I also have wee, wee, weeeeeee little habanero peppers. Aren't they wee? the flowery bit of stuff in the bottom left is the top of a dill plant, did you know they flower in a rather lovely fashion?
As you can see, my dill (as well as my parsley and basil) are quite prolific. That mostly-empty looking trough behind has a fresh plot of scallion bulbs, I've already had to harvest/uproot a whole batch since the beginning of summer (like, early may), they grow the fastest out of everything, and we had planted herbs in with them and the whole trough just became completely overgrown and unworkable. So, replant!
Uhm........ and I have a lettuce tree. This is what happens when you harvest the big bottom leaves of lettuce and then let the rest grow. You get a lettuce tree that rapidly cannot support larger leaves. So next harvest (which will be soon--check out that nearest plant on the left!) Im going to just lop that whole thing off at the base and see what happens with it.
SO YES THAT IS MY TERRACE GARDEN! I think I did pretty damn well considering I have a 5 'x 9' terrace. with bikes on it. also chairs and shit. SO YAY!!! VEGETABLES!!! I am mostly excited for the cucumbers, they are just SO damn cool!!!
