Dear Mary,

I’ve arrived at Hogwarts and everyone here can do magic! Dad was wrong. I’m not a freak. There are lots of people like me. The professors are very good at it. My headmaster just waved his hand and a whole feast appeared on all of the tables in the Great Hall!

I’ve already met seen some very handsome boys. One introduced himself to me after dinner. He seems polite. But, Mary, there was this boy. I think his name is Tom. He’s so very handsome. He has beautiful dark hair and lovely dark eyes. He was sorted into Slitherin House. Which is really good, because the green and silver really suit him.

I’m sure Mum will read her letter to you about my sorting and such. It’s very exciting for me. I bet you’ll think it’s boring, though. I can tell you the good bits and leave the boring bits for Mum.

I need to go now. Lessons start in the morning and I want to roll my hair so I make a good impression on Tom the others my professors.

Love you,

P.S. Don’t be afraid of the owl. Just give him some bacon and he won’t bite.
