8:30 am: call to Don's office to re-map the database network folder because his computer "forgot" where it was
9:00 am: call from Don because he cannot run a report to do year-end reconciliations
text to database engineer.
engineer says new version available in president's folder.
IM president of company to see if he can help.
call to Don to see what he's trying to do.
text to engineer about script because we can't find it - he has the flu and isn't feeling well.
Call from president, and told to conference with Don.
made conference call: President and Don.
received text back from engineer: i'll look into it in a little while.
9:15 am: receive 3 calls from an agent with computer problems.
Still on the phone with the President.
9:30 am: President is looking for script because he doesn't know where it is.
told to run a script that "looks" like it might do what we want.
nothing happens - I thought.
9:32 am: still on the confernece call with the President to figure out script information.
accounting coordinator is clamoring for attention because "she's got a problem in our database".
told her I can't help her since I'm ON THE PHONE!!!.
she goes to get her boss, who comes, sees I'm on the phone, and tells her to wait.
her boss e-mails me to call her when i'm off the phone.
acct. coordinator chooses not to wait. goes gets another managers who comes, sees i'm on the phone and leaves.
he send me an e-mail with our database engineer's main number - because I need it?
9:40 am: agent walks over and hands me a note "I'm having the same problem as yesterday".
Still on the phone with the President.
9:45 am: text engineer because we can't find the script. he calls me.
I give him "acct issue" to clear up.
10:00 am: he calls me back saying that as of 9:30 am, all payment info is wiped from the system. says he needs to work on it.
office is kicked out of the database.
Repair agent's computer.
10:15 am: call from engineer - has a backup of our data. wants to know what scripts we ran to try and figure out what happened.
scrpt that we "thought" might do what we wanted, turns out, wiped database.
10:30 am: engineer loads our back-up and gets us moving.
10:45 am: database is back up.
power goes out.
10:46 am: power comes back up.
11:32 am: power goes down.
11:33 am: power comes back up.
11:45 am: call building to see what's happening - power company is having trouble with one of their trunks
11:50 am: e-mail company that power may go out again.
receive snarky replies.
finish morning duties that hadn't been attended to.
12:45 pm: go to lunch.
3:15 pm: called to server room to investigate beeping - one of our backup generators is failing: "replace battery"
