how dispicable and disgusting. it's too bad they don't look at studies to predict whether or not your child will be a biggot. Perhaps parents would starts screening for that too.

I dislike the idea of aborting a child you would otherwise want based on some genetic charecteristic that is nothing more than gender or sexual preference. I don't oppose abortion in general though, then again I'm pretty sure you figured that bit out by now. ;)

the population did seem rather small for such a far reaching proposal. My senior research used 200 participants, but we also said the study was promising but needed to be performed on a larger scale to determine broader applications.

my only consolation is that their follow-up study proposal. to monitor pre-natal fetuses to see if they can predict sexual preference will require quite a longitudinal study since most children don't outwardly express gender preferenses until puberty.
That means they're looking at at least a 12 year study b/f their results can be released and probably more considering high school isn't always the best time to decide your gay. Then the effect of environmental factors on gender preference will have to be controlled, or the study cannot properly declare validity...too many confounds.
plus, pre-natal would only show a pre-disposition, and I don't think they have a way to conclusively determine a pre-disposition in an individual that doesn't choose it in the end.

I'm hoping they don't get adequate funding for their study.
