my only question is, does this mean their theory that the planet is only 3 K years old has to be re-evaluated? Or is science still faulty w/ their carbon dating?

Then again, it is utah, therefore, mormon. Maybe it just helps perpetuate the theory that they're all crazy. who knows...

detail! Minor details!! Yeah, I figured it was reliable science, I just found it funny that it was in Utah of all places...not practically, just superficially. :)

and techinically, the Mormons are Christian. They believe in Jesus Christ as our savior, they follow the Bible (in addition to the Book of Mormon), and they trace their (sketchy) lineage to one of the 10 tribes of israel.
They are at least as legitimate as the Witnesses, even if they get a little etherreal in some of their more specific beliefs.
In addition to believing women don't need to be educated, are the embodiment of evil, cannot be holy enough to walk among the highest tier of heaven, that girls should be married when they turn 18 to produce babies - their holiest of duties, that one should never be naked b/f the eyes of god and therefore wear the holy shroud at all times, they also do a lot of community service, believe in giving w/o (much) demand of return, and don't judge non-believers as harshly as some other christian sects I've run into. they do however have pretty serious penalties for stray sheep once you're part of the church.

just saying.

Hahaha, yeah, Mormons are great unless you are one and don't want to be. I have several ex-Mormon friends, and one who's a practicing Mormon still.

Mormons see themselves as the extension and perfection of Christianity, in the same way that Christians seem themselves as the extension and perfection of Judaism. Mormons may call themselves Christian, but their beliefs (especially concerning the trinity, one of the core tenets of all of the established Christian branches) are different enough that they don't really fit into that group any more than Christians can be considered just a different sect of Judaism.
