So, I've been talking the last couple of days about getting myself a box of some sort. furniture looking - probably wooden - to fill with games so that when people come over, I can say, "hey, lets play a game!" and then actually pull out games to sit down and play. :)
I have a deck of cards and so, that gives me Gin, and Rummy, and Spades (I played Canasta once, but I don't remember how to play anymore), but if there are other card games along the same lines as say Rummy and Canasta, I'd love to hear about them. :)
But I also wanted to make a list of games that I'd like to put into the box, and see if anyone else had any suggestions for fun games to play w/peeps of 2 and/or more..
My mom and I use to play a game called Pente that was fun, and I also have a thing for Parchese. Uno should go in, and a checker/chess board b/c you have to have the basics. :)
I was never good at Trival Persuit, but I know some people really like it. I'm on the fence about that one.
But I've heard games like Taboo can be fun for a crowd, and I didn't know what other games might fall into that category. Scategories?
I've played pictonary with my family, and it was enjoyable, but only because they liked it - Drawing isn't really my strong suit, just like charades is a bad game for me to try and play....
I always liked Monopoly, but it fell out of use b/c no one else in my family likes it.....takes too long, they say. eh.
so yeah. that's kind of what I've got going right now. I can't think of anything else, but I suppose that's a start.
A friend of mine suggested having a Game Party, and asking everyone to bring a game to donate to the collection. sort of like a birthday thing that I never really celebrated....I'm not sure about that idea, but it sure would make it easier for me to get the games w/o spending a ton of money.
Here's hoping I manage to get this together!
