Quickie Fun

My apologies for being LJ AWOL this weekend. I shall try and catch up on Flist entries at a later date.
1) Middle School One-Act Play contest was Saturday. ALL DAY LONG. You know, that big district-wide contest I was fretting about? The show (and kiddos) rocked. Absolutely DOMINATED. We got a "Superior" rating (the highest possible) and a glowing critique from the judge. She was really impressed with their diction and characterization and understanding of the script, especially since Earnest is such a difficult piece for this age group. Every school got three Honorable Mention and three All-Star Cast awards (and a tech award), but we also received the awards for Best Supporting Actress, Best Actress, AND Best Actor!
To top it all off, the Fine Arts director (who has been so critical of me all year) was the one who was handing out the awards. I wanted to be like, "HA!! Take THAT, Mr. White! Who's 'struggling' now, fool?" The parents were all so impressed and proud, too, but my favorite compliment of the night was when the director from Haltom HS (who is a very good director herself) stopped me in the hallway to tell me how impressed she was with the show, and (my favorite bit) "you may be young, but you are a good director." *squee!* That compliment really meant a lot to me coming from her, because she knows good theatre. So it was a very, very successful weekend. Thanks to all who sent good vibes!
2) Mom and I went Celebration Shopping yesterday. I spent way too much money, but it was all for school/work clothes, so I can justify it. And the stuff is WAY cute. Yup.
3) Speaking of way cute, JASON'S COMING HOME TOMORROW!! I'm going to be out of school for the next two days (celebrate and run) to drive down to Killeen with his family to meet up with him. I hope it's not awkward. I hope he likes me! *hopes*
