This weekend was quite trying, at best. Being alone in the woods with my mother (paranoid neo-con true believer) and grandmother (a German Martha Stuart) is probably as close as I'll get to hell in this life. But Melis was around, and that made things somewhat better (she wasn't too happy with my mother, either). On the plus side, my Grandma seems to approve of her.
Also, I bought a smoker this weekend. A nice, big propane one. Now let me tell you about the wonders of propane... or at least of propane smokers. Take one hog shoulder, add rub, put in smoker for 10 hours. Replace water and wood ships as needed. Slather with sauce (homemade or independent brand), and enjoy.
