My heart goes out to all those affected by the shootings at Virginia Tech. This tragic massacre left a wound that will be slow to heal, not only in Virginia, but also across the nation.

But what really irritates me, and I mean *really* irritates me, are politicians jumping up and down and using this as a political weapon. This was a tragedy, a horrible, inexcusable loss of life and yet activist groups have the gal to
use it to generate money? Disgusting. The Brady campaign, or
NYAGV is more than welcome to use this to make their point if they give people time to grieve, but to "profit" off of it or use it for politics just after it happens is unforgivable. They should be ashamed of themselves.
"Oh, your son/daughter was just killed in the Vtech massacre? Donate now to prevent gun violence! Can we have your email address?" Fuck you, you soul-less troglodytes. Get a conscience.
Incidentally, if a pro-gun group starts calling for donations for this same issue, I'm going to be just as pissed and withdraw my support of them. Thankfully, I haven't found one that has yet... If anyone does, please let me know and I will vent anew...

Virginia Tech administrators are on my shitlist big time, the blood of 30 of these deaths is on your hands. Ok, so you have two students shot on your campus by someone and you don't tell the rest of your community? What are you, insane?!?! Sure, prevent hysteria, thats good. But if a killer's on the loose you might want to let people go home...
That's right folks, this same lunatic shot and killed two people two hours before he opened up on everyone else. That means that 30 people, at last count, could still be alive if those administrators had acted appropriately.

RPI Administration is on my shit list. They waited the same two hours before shutting down the school. Then the Troy swat team came on to campus, held students at gunpoint and searched them... two hours after the incident! It amazes me that no one on campus is at all irritated about how the administration handled the situation. Yeah their response was better than V-techs, but that's like saying Mussolini was better than Hitler...

If one person on that campus had been armed, even the damned public safety officers, the killings could have been stoped all that much sooner. Fine, don't let teachers carry concealed, don't let students either, but how about your damned security at least? Is it that much to ask that people are allowed to defend themselves?
article 6
It is a proven fact, time and time again. When citizens are allowed to carry, there is less crime. This is not open to debate anymore. Why don't politicians look at the god damned statistics?!?!
"Violent crime rates are highest overall in states with laws severely limiting or prohibiting the carrying of concealed firearms for self-defense". (FBI Uniform Crime Reports, 1992)
The total Violent Crime Rate is 26% higher in the restrictive states (798.3 per 100,000 pop.) than in the less restrictive states (631.6 per 100,000).
The Homicide Rate is 49% higher in the restrictive states (10.1 per 100,000) than in the states with less restrictive CCW laws (6.8 per 100,000).
The Robbery Rate is 58% higher in the restrictive states (289.7 per 100,000) than in the less restrictive states (183.1 per 100,000).
Since adopting CCW (1987), Florida's homicide rate has fallen 21% while the U.S. rate has risen 12%. From start-up 10/1/87 - 2/28/94 (over 6 years) Florida issued 204,108 permits; only 17 (0.008%) were revoked because permittees later committed crimes (not necessarily violent) in which guns were present (not necessarily used).
The Aggravated Assault Rate is 15% higher in the restrictive states (455.9 per 100,000) than in the less restrictive states (398.3 per 100,000).

http://www.beast-enterprises.com/ccw.html And for those who would throw Brady or other sponsored statistics my way, look at the fine print and what is actually being said. Yeah, violent gun crime is what they're bitching about. How many of those statistics are based on illegally owned guns? And what would banning guns to law abiding citizens do about that? Sure, a criminal just out of prison can buy a gun at the local gunshop... Not possible, and just as it should be.
