This is absurd.

So Phil got the new SPORE game from EA Games. I played a demo of the DS version(via software download through the Wii), and both of us thought it was some gimp attempt at breaking into the 'battle monster' genre of games(as in Pokemon, Digimon, etc.).

Phil then got the PC version and while you can create your own creatures in it, the main game is more about starting off as a single-celled organism and evolving and multiplying through the eons until you develop an advanced society and spread across the world. It sounds pretty awesome, from what Phil's told me about it. :O

But then Phil showed me this:

Yeah... apparently there's some psycho fundi woman who's trying to lead this crusade against Spore because she's offended at the idea that 1.) it allows you to 'play God,' and 2.) it 'teaches children about evolution.'

To be honest, I thought the whole thing was a joke, especially when the first thing I read from her was this, on the original Sim City:
"He created Sim City, a fantastic game that celebrated the earth that God created for us and allowed you to use all your God given abilities to make an ideal society. But if you ever felt like you had too much power, God would come in with a tornado or an earthquake and put you back in place."

Part of me still feels like this is too idiotic to be anything but a parody. But when it comes to the fundies, you just never know. o_O
