has a follow up with the ortho thursday. they're going to fit him with a cast. [in the beginning he was wearing an orthotic boot. and by wearing i mean using it maybe 10% of his waking time. the doc said he needs to be wearing it 24/7, even when he sleeps, and, well, the boy knew he'd be tempted to remove it so he asked to be casted instead. for the last couple weeks he's been in a semi-cast of sorts. basically just bandages and getting about with crutches [which he really hates]. i hope they fit the permanent cast with a boot of sorts for him to get around without the aid of crutches.
this really puts a damper on his wanting to get his driver's permit and our trip to the smokey mountains later this month. [he would have really enjoyed the hiking opportunities].
